Hi all, this is my first post so be nice :( .

Went for a fish today with my mate in his boat. It was the first day of my holidays and we were well rewarded.

There is another posting today called "Christmas Lunch Mission" by stevefish, we were on the same Christmas mission for fish.

We hit the water about 6am and came across some Tailor near Lion Island so we used lures to grab a few and then continued to West Reef where we pulled up five flatty's ranging from about 45cm up to 72cm. We also got three good Flounder.

Things went off the bite for a while so we decided to head back to Patonga. On the way we saw some monster Tailor tering into the baitfish so decided to get in on the action.

My first cast with a silver lure connected to twenty pound spiderline, hooked up with something massive. The rod was groaning under the weight of the fish and five seconds later I was busted off. The lure was about 7cm long so whatever hit the lure must have scoffed it all the way up to the spiderline. :ranting2:

Anyway we ended up boating about 6 big Tailor with the biggest being about 50cm.

Had a great day and we plan to have a lot more before I have to go back to work.

Hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas..

Regards Ebbsy

Hi Mars, sorry I have not got back sooner, I have been away up at Nelson Bay.

We drifted around West Reef for the Flatties and the Flounder.

I forgot to mention in my post that I also got a small Hammerhead. I suppose that it was about 60cm long.

I now realise that I used the same rod for Tailor etc as I did for the Shark. I should have checked the 20Kg leader (not 20 Pound) before I got going. This could have been the reason that I lost a big one.

I am going out again on Friday, so hopefully I will have more good news to report.

Regards
