Lox 6-10kg 12 foot surf fishing rod balance

Hi Raiders, Id like some reel suggestions for this rod, the blank feels amazing in the hand but I haven't fished it yet. I'll be mainly bait fishing chasing almost anything from the beach. I have in my collection the new SW Stradic 6000 that I have used on the boat, but when I put it on the rod, it still feels very tip heavy. Id like to know how much balance plays a part in rod and reel selection for the beach. Where on the rod or the blank should it "balance" (if at all). When holding the rod at the reel seat with the reel on, it is still quite tip heavy. Is this just part and parcel of a 12 foot rod or should it balance better.

Thanks all for advice.

I'm not familiar with the Lox rod you mention, but generally a 12 foot rod matches well with a 6000 size Shimano.

Ideally, I'd be looking for the rod to balance somewhere around the tip end of the foregrip, though if it doesn't its not the end of the world. When you consider the fact that when bait fishing you have the weight of the sinker along with the drag on the line from the waves and the sweep along the beach, the outfit is rarely in balance anyway, if ever.

When holding a long rod and largish reel over a long beach session, I'd be concentrating on light weight rather than balance.

Edit: Just noticed you're new to Raider. Welcome to the site.

I have a Penn Clash 5000. I like Penn reels. Penn has got its act together in the last few years and they are building decent  reels.

My favourite is a Fin-Nor LT100. Been around for a while, but a great real. I also have the same one in an 80.

If I was buying  another reel,I would buy a Dawia 21 Legalis 5000D. Good value for the money.

Cheers.
