a few weeks before lockdown my family and i went on a holiday to queensland and we did a bit of fishing while away first it was 1770 we fished around the rocks with there being a few wire netted cod and some bream there was a bit of surface action but nothing would take a lure.

next it was off to airlee beach there we went on a charter boat about 3/4 of the way out had a drift there was plenty of grassy sweetlip around (not for me though) after about twenty minutes of drifting we hadn't caught other than a few baby fish and a trevally. we went the rest  of the way out to haymen island once we got in the bay there were small fish everywhere but there was no mackeral to be seen while we were in the bay there was plenty of new speices captures from a baby coral trout to a baby red emperor to a nice sized fingermark.

next we were in tincan bay we tried using soft plastics on the sand flat but couldn't even get a hit so we moved to the boat ramp the tide was out, there was  not many fish but a few little bream and fingermark are enough.

next it was back into nsw at south west rocks decided to fish the backcreek since we didn't have much time and the tides weren't right for blackfish there wasn't to many fish little toad bream and whiting.

Sounds like you had a good time, and a few fish to keep. It is always good to catch some new species.

Sounds like a fun trip & lucky to get it in

There the ones that would have been good to see on ice, there is always next time if we are ever allowed there again 🙂
