carlin11
Hello fisherman , John and myself(Steve) hit the water early on wednesday morning to arrive just inside north head to grab some live bait,,started well grabbed 1 instantly but after thet it took us bout 2 hours to get anymore whats the story 100`000`s of livies but they wont take the jig unbelievably frustrating for anyone..After eventually wasting half the morning on livies we finally got fishing for the King itself ,Tried Quarantine area Nothing, moved to wedding cake near clifton Gdns none again,by this time the yakkas were lookin good for nothingso we tossed em in for another life and started trolling thru the heads then up towards spit with only 1 scream from the rod lasting bout 20 seconds just off south head.. In conclusion it was a nice day on the water stuff all livies playing the game and as for the Kingfish in the Harbour,,I thinks they be on Holidays too.....Sydney Harbour Sucks Cant wait for my trip to Narooma to fish Montaque Island i heard its on fire down there, Wish me luck.... Happy fishing all!

Happy fishing all! Hi Reef Rebel, The harbour is a little frustrating at the moment. I was out there yesterday both morning and arvo. Clifton Garderns was boiling with bait fish scattering all over the surface being terrorised below. We tried everything from SP's tp metals but failed to raise a fish. There were about 10 boats working the area but no-one could raise the fish terrorizing the bait school down below. I reckon there sambo's. Pulled out the reliable sluggo's and had a ball with kingies around the bouys... Cheers, Spizza
marinrubelj
the harbour is not as bad as everyone thinks. To be honest I have not fished botany or port hacking much but it shits on the hawksbury. There is a way better range of species on offer.More structure, cleaner water I reckon you just had an unlucky day,we have had plenty of days were we haven't been able to raise a good fish. Its annoying but hey thats fishing I suppose
rebehy
I agree with Swordfisherman on the yakkas. Prawns (or bait) on jig hooks will get them biting every time. You don't need much and I often wonder if it is the scent alone that get them started. regarding Sydney Harbour, I have never come back home without a feed but of course it isn't always what I target. I have given up blaming the spots or individual waterways and have made a new years resolution to actually learn how to seriously fish. Some fishraider members have genuinly offered to help with this and I thank them heaps in advance. BTW- one scream for 20 seconds is more than I have been getting lately from medium game fish; Keep trying. Edited January 2, 2006 by eddie
