domza Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 (edited) Could someone recomend some good kingfish lures? I am guess the hard bodies are better then the soft plastics? Would chrome colours be best? could you post a picture of the lure, if its effective with surface feeding kingfish I was at botany bay today and could only get 6 rat kings, GREAT fun but!! im not realy a lure fisher so i didnt have many lures, thats why i think i wasnt more succesfull thanks Edited January 28, 2006 by domza
Guest lbgking Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 65 gram Knights work for me when spinning.
Sharky Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 6 kings in the bay all on lures is a great effort mate dont beat yourself up about it. I would keep doing exactly what your doing and when that stops working then try something different. For soft Plastics my favourite are Sunamies in the paddle tail and curl tale shads. They have good strong hooks and are weighted well so you can skip them across the surface, work the wash line, but trolling has been the most productive for me. Sluggoes have been geting a big wrap lately and I was blown away while using one with brian man that was awsome. For hard boddies the Maniacs with the feather tails work well and you wont get chopped up by tailor. And I have used nilsy deep divers they are great for salmon tailor and kingfish, Red and gold is my favourite.
Outnumbered Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 my favorite hardbody was my bill normans 5 1/2 inch shallow diving minnow in orange and silver, untill i lost it to a monster a couple of weeks ago as far as plastics go i have to agree with sharky on the tsunami's but also like squid lures with a bean sinker shoved up the hood
mottyman Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 G'day, Our favourite this season have been Spanyid Maniacs (cheap as chips metal lure) as well as Xmas trees and smaller skirts trolled at about 8 knots. Try jet heads or anything that leaves a good bubble trail. Cheers,

Sharky Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 We launched at the St George motor yacht club and trolled outside instead of inside. This is the first time this has not worked for us you get that.
