lhan
Hi raiders, A short report after a short session. I went for a flick after work yesterday at Morrison Bay, still 6lbs ultralight setup using 7g micro jigs. The water is extremely low at its lowest tide. First couple of casts scored me a small flathead I didn't bother measuring. Then it seems deadly quiet with only mullets jumping around. It was a bit dark at that time so I decided to give it a few more casts then I would call it a day. Hoping for a jew since it's rising from slack and low-light condition, I casted the jig out and hoped it off the bottom doing one pitch jerk. Suddenly a really heavy weight on and the line was peeling off, a serious fish! It was fighting really hard and bending my rod like crazy. It did several pulsing runs like really trying to drag my gear out of my hand - not a jew-style fight. While I was dreaming for a monster flathead, I saw a silver flash near the bank. It's a very good bream, chunky as hell to be honest. Measured at 35-36cm, it's actually my PB. As healthy as before, it was back to the drink after the measure. I used to think it's very rare to get a bream on jigs but with most of my bream caught this winter are on micro jigs, I prob discovered some new tactics for winter fishing haha If anyone interested which jig I was using, it's similar to this one but with a front assist hook. Mine is declared to be zinc so it has low density which leads to a bit slower sinking. Tight lines, Henry
