Old Snyder glas advice

Hi Deckies

I picked up this old Snyder at  Kimbriki last week. Grey blank 2 piece with glass on glass ferrule

Obviously needs work the old epoxy is flaking, I’m afraid stripping it might take the writing with it, can it be saved?
What does AWB stand for ?
Thanks.

Thanks guys, that makes sense, it has a wooden butt. Must join the blank under the low mount reel seat.

FHB, Full Hyperlon Butt, learning something new. Cheers.

I carefully chipped away at the epoxy and it took most of the writing with it, there is faint wording I should be able to trace with a paint pen. The Snyder glas label is 80% I can live with that.IMG_1046.thumb.jpeg.3972f2a42f41f52e6fae48eb0ead46ea.jpeg

I’ve stripped the rest it and given it a bit of a clean and the blank is in excellent condition. A few minor scratches that could come out with Cream Cut & Polish

I was a little worried about stripping the transition to the glass ferrule, but it turned out super smooth underneath.

Being a 2 piece all the guides are on the top section so I can work on the butt separately.

I’ve got a new set of Fuji Lumos, I’ll give the blank 6 coats of U40 permagloss and we’re good to go.

Just as a useless bit of info, I think I remember “BNHG” means Black New Hard Guides, I remember when they first came out and the brochure at the time mentioned that.

You would be correct. They were the best guide around back then (mid 80’s).

Yep, it was almost the transition from those old red and white guides so popular back then, and in a way, brought about by better gear and the jigging craze.

Thanks Noel I didn’t know that.
I looked at the newer KWAG series, polished stainless but they are 5 times the price.
