Over night, some pikes

Hi again.

We went earlier this summer overnight trip with Vili. Veikka allso want made overnight fishing trip, but on river.

So, even we both was on flue, we packing camping gears on boat and "normal "fishing gears".

First looking where put tent. Good place find our "swimming spot". Water was so down, that we get stuck on sandbank 10m before shore. We manouvering, and get reverse, new try little deeper. Still stuck sandbank, but enough shallow walk to shore. We put tent on, and make fire and eat. Then to fishing.

Veikka want testing new "top on water" lure, lookslike frog and make bubbles and sound when reel in. So we did drive our tweed spot. But ALL tweed was gone? How it is possiple, that 50x30m area gone? Not any grass or anything. It have been there forever, it have been smaller every years, but last year it was still that size, now nothing!!! For warmer weather, warmer water or for what?

So, we did drive other tweed spot. Same thing, NOTHING, NOT EVEN SINGLE LEAF!?!?.

So, i have not now any idea, where fishing redfins and pikes on shallow water?

So we did drive to "old spot", near bridge, even there is from 4m to 15m deep. Try redfinns, nothing, Veikka try shallow water lures, spinners, ext ext, nothing.

 I try ul-gears, fish on, zander, but cant strike back with ul gears, so its gone soon. 

Then i try chatterbait what i just did buy for "bigfish spot".

Soon fish on, about jus and just minimum limit zander, difficult strike back and hooked, feel strange, havent use chatterbaits before, get zander near boat, but its escape. Get chatterbait back to boat and its go 2 part. Looking more and that chatterbaits what i did buy, is it too weak for bigfishes, baga.

We try spot after spot, but did not get even baits. We did drive to our camp, find deeper spot on shore and put boat there for night. 

After good sleeping night, make breakfast, hot chocolad and sausage. Then to fishing. Not any bite from any spot. 

So, last choice, bigfish spot. First cast and bite, not hooked. Veikka want try him frog, pike follow several times, but Veikka strike too earl. He told me, that do it for that reason, that he afraid if pike cut line and steal lure.

 

But i get 2 pike, Veikka use net. Not big but something for eat. Then we planning go to home and going slowly away from bigfish spot, i trolling only few meters and fish on, pike again and we went middle of stream. Did drive by front motor little more side, Veikka use net and pike on boat.

So, even get something, but have been difficult fishing this year. Cant find fishs same spots that earlier, catch less fishes and allso see less fishes on fishfinder that before. Allso tweed is gone and water is more and more warmer every year.

Sounds like a fantastic adventure Jani, shame the fish weren't cooperating but like good anglers, you still persisted and managed a few.

Hope the weed beds recover soon and the fishing along with it.

A disappointing trip for you all Jani. At least you caught a few fish. Shallow water will raise the water temperature, which may not help to catch fish. Hope you manage to do a bit more fishing before Summer ends. Good luck.
