Sydney Rock fishing spots?

Recommended Posts

There’s literally hundreds of spots, species vary, as a general rule, the easier a place is to get to, the fishing is not so flash. First off, what do you want to catch? Species like (say) Bream are pretty easy to catch, but that said, turning up to a popular wharf at mid day with a packet of servo Prawns will probably not see you successful, you need to put in some effort. Fresh local bait, light line, little to no sinker, very early morning will see you right.

Hi mate, I'm particularly interested in pelagic species such as kingfish salmon and bonnies. Wouldn't mind the odd snapper or drummer

Everyone wants to catch stuff like that….are you experienced? If not, work up to those species.

Eastern Suburbs. Heaps of places. Wear the right gear & be careful. Take somebody with you, some of the places are dodgy especially Maroubra & Ben Buckler.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice James

Hey mate most headlands are fishable have a look on google maps scout up and down the coastline. If new to rock fishing I’d recommend fishing nth whale beach in the corner (easily accessible and quite safe) livebait and spin works well, kings salmon and Bonnie’s will show up anywhere but from my experience best chances on pelagics would be where’s deep water and if you can see bait around . Happy to take you out for a session if your keen and show you the basics and safety as it can be very dangerous
