Bate Bay, bumpy conditions

Recommended Posts

Headed out to Bate Bay this morning before sunrise. Forecast was for light winds. They were not strong, but more than forecast. Swell from the nor-east, wind maybe south/south west, a little swell building from the south, short and sharp waves from the same direction with a few frothing away on the top. Like being in a washing machine. The further out from shore the worse the waves were. I was fishing in 100 feet or a little more, wanted to go to 200 feet but not worth it. No other boats around me at all, probably most fishos were still in bed.

Plenty of spikies to be caught, only the 3 blue spots to 40cm, and one under sized one. Drizzly rain at Kurnell, but not near me.

Just enough for a feed, but better than staying in bed.

Good job Yowie, tough conditions but you managed a feed.

It was a slow trip out and back, but, a feed is a feed.

Sounds like a tough day on the water Dave

That washing machine action’s the worst.

still 3 is better than none when chasing a feed

Didn't look that bad, until out past the bombie, then it deteriorated more. I was planning on pulling up a few red spot whiting today, but it would have been punishing further out in the wind slop.
