Headed out early this morning to Maianbar. Pumped some nippers and waded about for a while, until a little while after sunrise.

5 whiting pulled out, some just over size. Was looking good, then the mongrel seagulls started diving to grab my nippers. Fishing in water less than knee deep, and the bites stopped, apart from toads.

Packed up and drifted around the Lilli Pilli flats for bugger all bites - pulled up the largest whiting at 36cm, and the bream was the same size. Drifted around a few places for no bites, then moved to a secret spot and pulled up the flattie, 46cm, but nothing else.

Near the mouth of South West Arm, a trevally swam under the boat, easily 45cm long, but not interested in the nippers and swam off.

Very nice whiting!

Good to have a few back up secret spots that produce.
Found the fish - nice catch Dave!

Thanks Chris. Bream and flattie fillets tonight, then whiting on Friday night. Friend grabbed a couple of fillets as well - she eats fish, he does not. 😂

Fish a bit scattered, but looking good for now.

Nice whiting 👍 Shame about the trevally but at least you caught lots of fish

Happy with the whiting. The trevally would have pulled plenty of line.

Nice mixed bag Yowie. Birds can be a pain at times.

Happy with the catch. Birds need to learn my language - "go away" or something that sounds like that.  🤣

Good stuff Yowie, fishing seems to be picking up a bit at the moment.

Yes Isaac, starting to improve at last.

Sometimes you just have to keep moving around to find them but sounds like it was worth it with a good overall catch. Nice bream by the way.

Had a few whiting coming close to the boat while pumping nippers - runup tide stirring up the sand like a natural burley trail with baby nippers swimming about - then the seagulls turned up.

A couple of feeds provided, so not complaining there, just have to find them.

Very nice mixed bag Dave and you saved on fuel:) It was good news when a few tings were caught last week, a promising sign of things to come! My kayak is about a week away, looking forward to joining you all on the water after a decent break!
