cogo44
A relatively quiet day on the water yesterday but with a few high highlights. Drifting in close between the stink pipe and Ban Buckler, one of our crew called for the net and up came a whopper groper. We estimate it was between five and six kilos before returning it to the sea. The bloke who caught it probably had a dream last night where the dish morphed into a snapper. If only! It was uncomfortable to see a grown man with tears trickling down his cheeks. A lowlight occurred when I was pulling in a big flathead only for a shark to rip him off the line. Lastly we enjoyed a highlight when three whales were sighted enjoying a romp in the sea with a crowded whale watcher also nearby. Catch wise it was a modest count of whiting and flathead with a few reef species thrown in.
Larkin
Pitty no snapper, but can’t go wrong with whiting and flathead. Did you catch sand whiting inside or red spots out on the drift?
jenno64
Nice work on the blue but a shame the pink colour didn't come up!
Yowie
A boring day outside if nothing is happening - sounds like you had some entertainment. You are catching a few fish, a few whales cruise past, and you don't have to pay all that money for a "whale watching cruise". Double bonus, enjoy it while you can. 👍
