ChelleyBlacktooth
Hi there, newbie angler here and I am off to Wollongong soon and want to make the most of the trip as I don’t get to go saltwater fishing as often as I’d like to. I’ll be land based and wondering if you could point me somewhere I might have a look in with some flounder and bonus points for where I could try my luck at some crabs. thank you kindly. sashkello
Targeting flounder is really more luck than skill... They aren't exactly plentiful and you are more likely to catch a few flathead and have them as bycatch. Any flat estuary area with some weedy patches to hold food like prawns is what I'd look for. noelm
Not many Flounder around here (there is some) and it’s still pretty cold for crabs, but still worth bringing a couple of traps/nets, make sure you check the regulations…….and do NOT just set them and leave, they will be gone in no time! Depending on where you are, there is lots of public jetties around the lake that are worth dropping a crab net off and having a fish. Do you own a Nipper pump? if not, buy one, use Nippers for bait, light line, small long shank hooks and little sinkers, if any at all.
Aussie_fisher
Any area where you get flathead there would probably be a few flounder around as well due to their similar feeding habits and location preferences. Much harder to target specifically though
bessell1955
Good advice, nolem! The share farmers are in plague proportions.
