SpeedyGiraffe49
This morning I went with 2 mates to Maianbar and managed to catch and keep 7 whiting on yabbies. Fished the rising tide and was casting into fairly stiff and cold wind. Had to give the cast a bit of pepper to get the yabbie out far enough on to the yabbie holes where the fish were. Weather was a mix of clear and overcast. Fished a simple running sinker rig on 6lb braid/mono leader (it’s my lure outfit, overkill for baitfishing). 2500 reel with a 1-3kg 7ft 6in rod. In recent months I’ve shared that I was quite sick and had injuries that have taken a while to heal. I still have a residual cough and am rehabilitating my knee and shoulder, but I am thankfully pretty close to normal now (I’m 27M, disappointing that it’s taken so long to recover at my age). Mental health was pretty low these last few months, so being well enough to go fishing with mates this morning was a huge help on that front. Thank you to all the kind raiders who reached out to me after my last report.

Aussie_fisher
Awesome job on the whiting - the best fish to eat by far. Always good to get out especially with mates. Great to know you’re recovering and best of luck hopefully you’re 100% better very soon
big Neil
I hope that your health issues are behind you and you continue to improve and manage to get out fishing with mates. It's amazing how therapeutic fishing can be, more so when in good company and producing quality results. It has been really strange how the wind has been gusting strong and very cold for much of this year, at least where I live. You did well getting some very nice Whiting. Enjoy them. I look forward to your positive reports in the future mate. bn
Little_Flatty
Glad that you're on the mend @SpeedyGiraffe49. Fishing does wonders for one's physical and mental health. That's a fantastic feed of whiting you've got there. Well done.

Yowie
Nice bag of whiting. Fishing is good for mental health, you are doing something rather than sitting at home doing nothing.

I know you sold your boat, but three months is a long time between sessions! Maybe you need to do a Gunamatta raid @Larkin style. Hope all is otherwise ok.

Hopefully some positive reports come out of that haha. On 9/23/2024 at 5:19 AM, Little_Flatty said: Glad that you're on the mend @SpeedyGiraffe49.
