devoker Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM (edited) I am planning a trip with my wife to hawkesbury river and I would like to learn if you know any fishing spots we can try for casting metal lures and soft plastics. Aim is to catch some legal size pelagics. I am considering akuna bay, illawong point or cottage point but never been there so I don't know if they are good spots for these fish. Ideally places that are not very rocky to avoid snagging as she is a newbie. Do you have any other location recommendations? savit
Illawong point would be most popular and easily accesible fishing spot, quite packed in season. I believe bottom of channel is mostly muddy, just dont drag lure/SP close to the shore . Easiest to catch of legal pelagics would be yellowtail scad - could be a challenge on soft plastic as require special gear and technique, but easy to catch with jigging or bait. Burley will help.
