where are the fish?

This morning around 9 i headed to bobbin head for a picnic/barbeque and mainly fishing with mates. Started off really slow, not a single bite till 11 when my big rod started thumping. Failed to set hook and lost my bait. Next time my small rod was buckling, and out came a nice 20 cm ish whiting. After a barbeque I set out on my kayak around the whole of Bobbin head, but not one bite. It was around 4, so I headed to the place near the marina to at least get another fish. I felt something on the line and reeled it in, turns out it was a good sized dinner plate flounder. However I reeled it in too quickly and as soon as I saw what I hooked into, it came off. After that it was 1 hour of nothing. It's a bit strange because there usually is quite some fish, even small ones. Is anyone else finding fishing challenging now?
