South Coast, Mollymook Trip

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

Family and I are planning a trip down to Mollymook/Ulladulla area, it'll be my first time and wanted to see if anyone has any experience fishing the beaches there? I'm land based so I'll be checking out the Ulladulla harbour but if anyone has any tips or things to lookout for I'd really appreciate it!

Hoping to have a good fishing report post trip!

I have fished racecourse beach a fair bit , you can get worms and pipis there , this time of year it was mainly salmon and the odd bream . Burrill beach is much the same . Wairo is a bit bigger and I found a bit rougher especially at the north end - do keep this in mind if the swell drops right off but always worth a look . Never bothered with Molly - too many surfers for me but might be worth a try at night or if the swell picks up from the SE or NE as the headlands at each end will give some protection - swell from the north - fish the north end and visa versa . Never really fished the harbour , more burrill lake but the mouth of the creek in the harbour looks like a nice spot to flick a lure !

Thanks for the tips! Was looking at the google map of racecourse, is there a parking spot near by?

Only the north headland and the southern end via a track to the rocks at the south end but parking up near the highway. I had a van there and we had our own tracks .

If you’re keen on salmon and tailor, take a drive up to Conjola and fish the beach down the southern end, accessible from the lookout track. It’s less than 30 minutes from my home and my most consistent beach around by far.

Good estuary fishing in Burrill Lake, both sides of the bridge and some good flats for pumping yabbies.

Last time I fished Ulladulla Harbour was off the outer wall and there was heaps of big slimy mackerel that were a lot of fun on light gear.
