Skeps
Hit Terrigal ramp about 630, bit late for my liking but the old man is getting older 😝. Water was 21.5 relatively clear, wind light. Stopped for a few livies, we were keen on a good Trag session, and hoped fore a few snapper. Set out for reefy bottom in about 30 m. Trevally were hungry and hitting hard. Tried a few rigs and few depths but no Trags no snapper 🤷🏼 As we got a few Trevs for tea we were looking at another spot. Then bang the livie rod starts singing. Big head shakes I was getting pumped and lucky to get him off the bottom, I was fishing quite low. Dad got the other rods out the road, and readied the net Good while later started to see colour, beauty was a king and must of been his brother coming up with him. Dad did well on the net, very much a team effort. Few hugs, yells and high fives, we were stoked King was 1 meter on the button, my PB and most memorable fish I have ever caught because I did it with Dad, he was very proud. We don’t get out as often these days, and hope one day I get to net one for my boys. Southerly started to come on and we both knew it was time to head in. Passed tonnes of whales on the way in, Dad and I were high fiving the whole way in.
Yowie
Very nice, a great kingie for the effort, plus plenty of trevs for a big feed.
Peter K
You have me very jealous! Sure a 1m kingy is amazing. But all those very respectable trevally!!!! Its been about 2 months since I've caught one, they almost seem to have stopped coming up the Georges were I am and I miss them dearly, maybe its the time of year idk. They taste soo good, I really like them in a teriyaki marinade and pan fried, they are very close behind fried flathead for my favourite eating fish as of recent!! Great haul and doing it with your father is always a great experience, out doing him is also good fun too!

I usually have trevs sashimi and Ceviche. However regularly put them in a tamarind base soup with spinach and broccoli, serve with rice it’s beautiful. Also do them in foil on the bbq, served with a soy / lemon mix and rice! Filipino heritage here, many fish recipes in the bag of tricks!
big Neil
Great recount of the events, Skeps. Very well done to you and Dad in catching the metre-long Kingie. It's one for the memory bank, that's for sure. I hope you recall it when you get to repeat it with your own children. Good story, mate. bn
