olpol Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Hi all, I'm inspecting this boat tomorrow (I know the name and length are wrong on the ad) and was wondering what I should look for. The owner says he is happy to start it up on muffs, and happy for me to check for soft spots in the floor and transom. The hull is in good condition and has no patches or fibreglass sheets over cracks. Is there anything else I should look at/questions to ask? Cheers. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1029346375636302/?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner
noelm Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I wouldn’t buy anything without a full water test, including some decent long runs at higher RPM. Wasn’t this boat posted about before?
XD351 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 There was post about this boat a few weeks back . seriously if you don’t know what you are looking at or to look for pay for an inspection - usually once you ask the seller if they will allow an independent inspection they will either be ok with it ( possibly a good boat) or shy away from it - a dodgy seller . ok , you run an engine on muffs for a few minutes - it seems ok but take it out and run at full throttle it starts to overheat or cut out and you might have an expensive fix on your hands . personally myself I wouldn’t buy a box of matches off market place . 1

Yes agreed. The owner is servicing the motor this week, and has said that I am welcome to take it for a test run the following weekend. I think this viewing will just be me scoping out any major issues with the transom or hull.
noelm Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Servicing the motor can mean anything, from a real service, to just tinkering around, make sure you get a dated receipt from a reputable shop detailing work done. 1
juicy233 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I reckon you don't go the way of the old fiberglass and look for a 2010-2012 quintrex escape 430 with a 40hp or something like that. 1
