Yesplz Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Hello, been very busy recently so haven’t fished since my last post. Luckily managed to make some time for a quick hour and half session so headed down to the same spot as last. Sticking to what worked last time started casting a 2.5 grubz around and fairly quickly landed a small flathead. Kept working my way down the park with some missed hits but no other fish landed. I’ve found that the far left hand side of the park doesn’t usually amount to much, probably cause it’s too shallow. Since the tide was getting a bit too low I decided to try and practice walking the dog with my remaining time. Honestly the action looked hilariously bad but hooked on to two tailor with one coming off as I was lifting it over the rock wall. I think next session I’m going to focus on having a more subtle twitchy retrieve for bream (currently I’m using 1/12 oz jighead, would you consider that too heavy for bream?) and keeping more tension in the line since I feel that might be the reason for my poor hook up ratio. 12
Peter K Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Nice stuff. 1/12 oz is fine, depends on the water depth and how fast the current is in that area. Most people say 1/20-1/8 oz and you change as needed. Ive recently been running between 1/19 oz to 1/11 oz. 1

Peter K Posted November 2 Posted November 2 @XD351 what do you mean? the information I stated? or where I’m getting my jig heads from? my jig heads are 1.5grams, 2 grams, 2.5grams, bought online as a 50 piece box for each weight individually.

Yes jig heads - don’t think I have ever seen 1/19th jig head or 1/11- they are usually even numbers - 1/12,1/20 etc

Sorry to jump in but how good are those jig heads bought online? So far I’ve been using HeadlockZ but I feel like they’re quite expensive for what they are. Are the ones you bought online any cheaper/good?

I work in grams seeing as were in aus. When bought form stores, it is always even numbers. 1 hour ago, Yesplz said: Sorry to jump in but how good are those jig heads bought online? From the cheap Chinese orange website. 5-10$aud, 50 pack, depending on the weight/hook size. They are fine for most estuary species under 40-50cm, although I wouldn’t trust it for targeting bigger species. They don’t have a great lure holder/keeper so I always pierce a hole at the head of the plastic, and stretch it over the eye of the hook, that works very well. 1
