I was out again yesterday with my fishing buddy. Due to health issues he struggles with an early (i.e. around dawn) start, so we didn't get on the water till around 8.30am.

The wind was certainly enough for a reasonable drift speed but the closer we were towards the Sydney Harbour Heads the more my Fishabout 430 was dancing on the drift. This is the 3rd week in a row that we have been out after flatties and again it was flounder saving the day for us. Like many other Raiders flounder have been an occasional by-catch but we came home with 5 good size flounder. We must have thrown back at least 8 undersized blue spots (plus a few flounder).

This is our third year of fishing the area and we have caught plenty of shovelnose and banjo rays.  But yesterday we caught our first two  "proper" stingrays - which we promptly released.

We called it quits around 1pm when the rain started to set in. Unfortunately no photos this week as it was still wet when we were cleaning the fish.

Well done on getting some quality Flounder Robbo. They have such sweet flesh. The area must be ideal for all the bottom-feeding ambush predators.

Cheers, bn

He has his ups and downs but it's good to be able to keep him out in the boat and catching fish

Thanks Neil. We have never consistently caught flounder there before like this and the legal sized flathead seem to have deserted us at the same time.

Robbo the flounder king! This cannot be a coincidence! Well done on another great feed.

Nopt sure how long we can continue to pull this off but it is good while it lasts

Very nice again. Only flounder to take home. Living the high life on flounder.  🤣

Thanks Yowie. My mate's wife is French and just loves flounder (sole to her) so he goes home happy and so do I

Flounder a great eating fish, well done.

Thanks Bessel. I still prefer flathead fillets but flounder are sweet and great to eat and I am getting better at cooking flounder given all the recent practice!
