Hugh Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Hey Fishraiders. Been a while since I posted, mostly because of lack of fish, not lack of fishing. Anyway, our annual retreat up the coast always fixes the winter doldrums. Weather has been pretty good. We had a couple of sessions targeting the Kings at Fish Rock which were all very productive. One of the goals this year was to boat a 1m+ king, my 12 year old son also had a goal to land his first legal king entirely unassisted. We managed all that on the first trip, after that it was just fun. We’re well over 20 kings so far. The weapons of choice is a tie between the usual 9” pink slapstick sluggo and a pink 60grm slug - both pulling in plenty of 800+ fish. We were also keen on a big Dolly. A couple of days ago went to SWR FAD which was not fun. Weather was up with a Southerly swell and a strong westerly wind and sea. I was having a chat with one of the local pros who kindly suggested we try Hat Head FAD instead as it produced a lot more. He wasn’t wrong. We ended up with over 25 boated, most in the 700-800 range, but I did get the magic 1m, 1020 to be precise. The old 4/0 with a light pilly cube was definitely most productive but the big ones were all on weighted yakkas. Interestingly the slimies went largely untouched. The big boy was happy. The obligatory whiting session kept the other kids all satisfied One more week to go. God is good 16
Little_Flatty Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Fantastic Hugh. That more than makes up for a protracted period of no fish! Well done.
Yowie Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Some good sized fish there, the kids are happy, plenty of fresh fish to be eaten. 👍
mrsswordfisherman Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Nice to see you back! I added the pics to the original post @Hugh and then realised the single posts had lots of reactions. Will just leave them all in place. Kids look very happy with that outing
