After much study   I am going to get a silstar crystal tip 701 spxl

I am pretty sure I am putting a Sedona 2500 with this

I will be running mono hooks and sinkers

(old school) 😁 but

I have been niggling with the thought of a daiwa free water

are they worth the extra money?

I am getting some money off my family for Christmas and was wondering to get a free water instead of a Sedona

Fishing from an 4 m runabout Opinions ?

thanks

greg

I like my bait runner reels but usually use them when targeting larger species off the rocks or the beach. It all depends on what you want it for, if it's for the estuaries I wouldn't bother, but off shore potentially could be worth it.

Thanks Sloth Maker

Definitely not off shore only lake , I need a bigger boat for off shore and that's still in the want list 😇

sedonas are a great reel for their price.

Definitely value for money

The trouble is when you go in a tackle store its like a kid in the candy store , so many choices

Legalis is the best for its price imo unless you will use it in saltwater. I even use it in the harbour but wash and oil it very frequently. I am considering buying some bearings to replace the bushings to make it even smoother.

I talked with the local fishing store dude

he was very helpful 👌 and I told him what I want to fish for , what type of line , bait and hook

Lake Macquarie (salt water) and in a runabout

after thinking Shimano Sedona  ,I have come up with a Daiwa laguna with a 7 ft crystal tip

8 ib mono and will suite me to a tea

I have a few 2000 series old shimanos  at home and I am planning on getting a 6 ft crystal tip for them  as well

you can't beat good service at a dedicated tackle store

Spot on! If we want that level of personal service to continue, we need to support them by doing our business with our local instead of chain stores.

I can't even chat fishing at my now nearest tackle supplier (now B** chain store). They have young staff who have a master's degree in cash register, but don’t know the first thing about fishing.

Tackle stores are deadly and expensive 😇

I called into a tackle store at Broadmeadow today and left with a daiwa exceler 3000 c and a 7 ft crystal tip plus some Japanese mono they recommended, I also did a laybuy on a 6 ft crystal tip

Now to catch some fish 👌

Whatever tackle you ended up with Greg Foster, I hope that you will get plenty of usage from it. A great pastime is fishing so enjoy your new gear and share your experiences with us all on here. Good luck.
