Basil D Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Hit the ramp 4 am again and straight to the bait grounds, picked up my yakkes and went straight out to the fads, was there by 5.45am , got 7 mahi before a stampede of boats come roaring in, counted 18 boats and got Uncomfortable and the fish went of the bite, headed straight back in before deciding to hit the flathead Grounds, got a couple then decided to try the edge of the Cronulla reefs where I got two snapper and one was a cracking 67cm, not bad a for a shallow water snapper , called it quits at 1pm, cleaned the fish in salt water offshore, As I wont let fresh water touch my fish, it spoils them, them headed back in to clean the boat and have a beer at home , tight lines everyone 18 1

Pickles Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Awesome results Basil - thanks for the report (had a similar experience yesterday myself) - so important to get on the FADs early, once the crowds congregate, they get shy.

M1100S Posted November 22 Posted November 22 was good to see you at the bait grounds Basil.... apologies for not coming over to have a quick chat as wanted to get to the fads before the madness started. I was the third boat at the Botany wide fads, and its was all on from the get go, every yakka thrown out resulted in a hook-up. Got there about 5.40am and by 6.45 I was ready to go home once the hoards started arriving. I hung around for another hours and only got one hook-up in that time. the mahi certainly did shut down Kept 6.... threw back three and one busted off. I was super chuffed as was my first trip on the new boat and to land a 1m dollies as a first fish made my day. ( yakka's don't count as fish do they ) 3

Pickles Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Some really nice Dollies @M1100S - Love your new rig, (Jealous of your Stabi), great for off shore. If you have a chance to PM me I’d love some bait spots in BB as I’ve never fished south and going out soon. Basil shared some spots and reading both your posts, I reckon you bloke would know. blessings @Pickles (Bob).

Lets hope I continue to get often often, I have slowed work down a touch.
