Ivo W Posted Thursday at 07:13 AM Posted Thursday at 07:13 AM Hey guys, My folks just moved up to the northern beaches of Syd (lucky buggers!). I'll be visiting and would love to get a few beach sessions in. I know Narrabeen, dee why and curl curl are popular spots, but also super busy over summer. Do any of the smaller and more northern beaches fish well? I'm thinking Bilgola, Bungan, Whale beach, Newport etc. Otherwise I think I might just join half of Sydney down at Narrabeen haha TIA and tight lines! 1
sashkello Posted Thursday at 10:18 PM Posted Thursday at 10:18 PM They're all pretty similar, mate. Haven't fished all of them, but yeah Whale Beach is good spot, and Newport is fine too, even though it's a bit shallower from memory, so it's a good whiting spot but fewer ocean species at least from what I know. I wouldn't say that smaller beaches are less crowded - quite the opposite, on big long ones you always have an option to go for a walk and find a spot... Narrabeen is long, it's hard to pack it with people. But yeah, good spots will all be taken. Dee Why is usually easier because you HAVE to walk to get to the middle of it and naturally fewer people go there. It gets shallower further north and quite weedy in places, so worth moving around, trial and error kind of thing...
