  1. Hi all,

I did end up trying for Blackies yesterday out at Botany, but didnt manage to witness a single down (ah well, thats fishing for you)

Maybe I was fishing in the wrong spots? I still need to learn how to identify which ones are luderick areas.

Having said that though, it was still an enjoyable experience out in the sun. Thanks for all the tips, fellow raiders.

  2. Hi there raiders,

All those blackfishing reports is making me itch to try blackfishing as well.

Anyone heading out for a trip round about the harbour this weekend?

If so, do you mind a novice tagging along to pick up some tips of the trade?

I dont have blackfishing gear so would probably just be watching and learning.

  3. G'day raiders,

I made use of the sunny weekend by going down to the Spit bridge for a fish.

All we seemed to hook up were leather jackets and by the looks of the fishos around us, thats what they were catching as well.

Anyways, after opening one of the particularly "fat" jackets at home, I found some ugly looking parasite living in its gut! That freaked me out to no end!

It looked like a cockroach, except it was milk white in color, with short legs, sort of tear dropped shape, and bigger than a 50c piece. (It reminded me of those creatures in Dan Brown's novel Deception Point)

I suspect this parasite burrowed itself into the LJ's stomach and made a home in there.

Question is: Any idea what it is? And should I have eaten that fish?

Sorry fellows, I dont have a photo of the parasite but I'll try to post a photo of the LJ with its stomach buldging out, I got rid of the fish and parasite quick smart!

  4. Hey guys, been out of the game for a while due to work commitments, dieing to go fishing, but don't want to come back empty handed. Just after a good LB spot either Sydney or Central coast. Just want to get some bream or flatties, any suggestions where is a good place to go hunting?

    :biggrin2:

From my limited experiences of fishing, sadly, I've found that there is no such thing as a guaranteed fish.

Pier 2 inSydney can be a good spot but tends to get overcrowded. Any of the ferry wharves at night seem to be good as well.

  5. This is one of my pet hates too.

Another one is where you make a big effort to get to a land based spot and a boat comes and anchors within casting range right in front of you.

They have the freedom to go anywhere they want but whereas your land based opportunities are very limited.

Makes you want to accidently cast a big sinker at their boat.

The highlighted bit seem to happen alot to me :(

I dont understand why they would want to do that... Once I got the 1 finger salute when I told the guys on the boat that they're on my burley trail and my line was actually right BELOW where they've decided to park their boat!

  6. Its funny this post got put up this weekend. I bought a pack on Saturday in blood red colour and tried it over the weeekend.

Only managed some undersized bream and undersized whiting.

I was using it as a bait, rather than the conventional SP cast and retrieve.
