hey timmy, i done the same thing a couple of years ago with 10 mates for our schoolies trip. You wont be dissapointed. as telcobroker said jerusalem bay is a great place. At the entrance u can fish the holes for jews and flathead, further in to the left is pinta bay. Great place to get yakkas/squid/mullet and gars for bait. At the end of pinta bay are sand flats, u can pump nippers and play cricket on the sand at low tide. And ive had success further up the river at gunyah point recently for school jew up to about 4kg. Also, Troll bibed minnows up and down the shore around elenor bluffs during run up tide for tailor hope this helps matt

hey mondo, i read the same thread the other day and was pissed to say the least............ I've been out with pete on his charter and he was saying it happens all the time in pittwater. It's a real shame, and the same mongrels have a cry when the area doesnt fish as well for them as it did 10-15 years ago. My misius and i were on a houseboat last summer for a week and saw at least 4-5 pro boats a day in the hawkesbury. (We didnt catch a thing - probably wasnt all their fault) The worst of it is you go to the fish markets and see jewies that dont even pass for 40cm........ what a joke......

Lizard, im not sure how to tell but i can say it sounds like it might have been poisoined. My holiday house is on the water front on brisbane waters. There are mangroves and gum trees in front of our house, but none which block the view. But the house to my left have huge gumtrees blocking the views and over the last couple of years the mangroves and gumtress seem to be dying off. No doubt from being poisioned to raise the value of the houses. It hase prompted Gosford City council to put up a sign saying tree and mangrove vandalism is a crime. And the fines reach $440,000 if your caught.....OOOuchhh

hey goofball, the dvd is great and relevent to all the places you fish....... they are all featured in the dvd and a pretty good watch. As for bait, if you live in penrith, you probably best of going to a fishing store in st marys. He has great fresh frozen hawkesbury squid. Its the only frozen squid baits ive seen where the eyes are still greenish/blue......i've also caught kings on said bait............ the bloke who owns the place made the jewfish dvd with greg joyes so he should be able to give you even more pointers. pm me if you want the web address.......good luck

1st post - nice one Like most of the other blokes already told you must be fishin in the wrong place, and with negativity like that - rightly so -

to the site bisso............ hope you enjoy the site, i find it very useful and entertaining........... Anyways, i have been fishing brizzy waters for the last 5 years and only in the last 2 years have i really fished it alot. At least 3 times a month, and your exactly right, it is the cleanest it been and not to mention that the fishing is really starting to pick up in the last 2 years compared with other seasons, and i think its safe to say ??? that is due to the close on commercial fishing many years ago...... Some of the areas that have been firing for me latley have been ; 1. Rip Bridge - using fresh squid strips and chicken breast & parmasan cheese for big flounder eg.28-30cm, soapie jews, burley a must.....fish around tide changes coz otherwise it runs to hard 2. All Channel Markers south of the rip, on the run out tides at dusk, big bream - action only lasts 15 - 20mins but its usally a fish a cast and they're usally all decent. Burley heaps 3. Wharfs - Wagstaffe, Pretty Beach, squid on 1.5 yo zuri's in green, and burley up for livebait. eg. Yellowtail and mullet - your son should love catching those little bait fish and hopefully you can turn it into a monster jew or flathead..... 4. Andersons channel - burley up and drift the channel useing a wide varitey of baits and sp's for best results especially for large flathead........ best on run out & around low tide change all the spots ive mentioned you can fish with your son and always produce a feed for me. Just need to gather some bait before a session eg. nippers, squid and as long as u use fresh baits all the spots should not dissapoint....hopefully.... ps. use bigger baits as there are some pickers and these spots for the next month at least shouldnt see huge boats everywhere........ I feel your pain bisso as i fish the are in an 8ft tinney............. Good luck

great catch mud_crabbing you deserve many beers for that effort its good to see these mud crabs returning to the hawkesbury. They've been scarse to say the least over the last couple of seasons. This is "appparently" due to 2 clowns, who many years ago laid hundreds of traps between Bar point and wisemens ferry and continuously worked the are for about 6 weeks and nearly killed off the whold population......... Anyway, top catch..........

The missus decided we needed a holiday so we decided to head up to her holiday house for a week of (it great when the missus love fishing too) and relaxing on brisbane water. I also mentioned i wouldnt mind going on a charter for some kingfish (which i havent had the pleasure of catching before) so we booked a day out with pete leblang later in the week. We Went squiding every morning of the for an average of 2 large squid per 5 - 10mins after then we found them to move on. On monday decided to head out in the 8ft tinny to our secret bream spot in brizzy waters. Conditions were perfect for this spot to fire, Run out tide, last hour of light and rain had just stopped. We were there for only 10mins, And it did the missus caught her PB bream of 41cm it put up a decent fight too Tuesday we were on the palm beach ferry at 5:50am on the way to pittwater and boy it was rough. The swell was around 7-8ft and i was suprised this boat was coping so much and to top it off the winds wasnt sure if the fishing would be all that good. We were on the boat with pete at 6:30 and there squid were hard to find tried 3 spots and the last one worked a treat. Caught 5 squid and headed out after some kings. The wind and rain really did limit out spots and the kingfish were hard to find but after 5 hours of trolling one of the rods started to fire curving over in its holder. I grabed i was hooked on a king. I was so stoked but event more impressed after 4-5mins when i got him to to boat. He was only a rat coming in at 59cm and 3.5lbs. I was surprise he was so small and thought geez id love to catch a 90cm+ king ....... Imaging the fight.... After he was tagged and released we went trolling for some more kings, coz the missus hadnt caught one yet. We were trolling over a wreck right next to a hire boat full of blokes about 30m away. Pete said would it be great to hookup right now, and speak of the devil the drag went wild and my missus grabbed the rod she was on to a king . After 5mins she was rewarded with a 57cm king, and all the blokes could only point as she held up he fish. after we tagged and released it she said another 1 or two runs and i wouldnt have been able to hold the rod We had a great day with pete and on the worst day weather wise he found us fish, and i learned heaps and cant wait for the next king. The rest of week was quiet except for some tailor caught on cd11's around half tide rocks.... All in all a great week fishing and my first king.... Tight lines to all Matt

when i was fishing the hawkesbury on a houseboat earlier in the year every yellowtail i pulled up had this THING in its mouth. heading up the central coast to fish-on all weekend. Probably hit up lobster beach of the rocks all night and then move into brisbane water from the rip bridge down, apparently there are huge whiting moving through..... looks like the making of a good season.....

definently squid, but chicken breast in parmasan cheese is my do-all versitile bait. I've caught all the usual table fish, any bait fish will take it and also the big ones. eg. jews & kings. Cutting it down to a sensible size always provides me with action.......

kingies in calabash?? surprising, but hey thats fishing. 2 weekends ago spent the weekend at bar point fishing the area. Great weather but the water temp was still down. Fishng around bar island picked up 4 port jacksons to 65cm in under 50mins. Thought that was a bit strange. (but i was more upset about not hooking on a jew. All weekend there total hours spent fishing - 8, jewies - 0.......

nice catch. I know where your talking about. my girl's holiday house is across from the wharf. im up there fishing the area - rip bridge, putty beach, Sandbar in the bay, at least 1 or 2 weekends out of every month.
