  1. Good stuff mate..... Top report and blow me down, nice pic to boot. Sounds like an unforgetable session. cheers, Andrew.
  2. Another wet and wild day in the mountains, thoroughly enjoyable once again. I wish the fish decided to play ball (not a word clutch), but that’s fishing. I think Wentworth falls needs a fair bit of time to suss out. It comes across as a hard fishery. Cheers Matt and Swoff for another pleasant day on the water. Andrew.
  3. The team just decided it was time for me to have a break between games. Wilko.
  4. Howdy.... was nice to meet you the other day Matt. Hopefully we can come up trumps on some good numbers of fish over the next few months to help you out as much as possible. As swoffa said, i urge everyone to get involved. Cheers, Andrew.
  5. Geeez Joe, dont know if i would call them sexy? I was thinking more along the lines of damn hot.....
  6. Nice one mate Thats a very good start to the season Idol, unless that was the only hairtail left in the world Gives me inspiration to heap up next week. Cant wait to see the photo. cheers, Andrew.
  7. Geeezus Im down for this one, sounds like fun. I just tried to scan a photo of the last hairtail i caught in 2001 from the cowan shoreline shoreline, but its playing up (The fish swoffa refers too). Its been 4 years since any sort of numbers of fish have been caught, but hopefully things may change this year. Its all about fish cycles, but mainly commercial pressure i rekon. I laugh now that i think how swoffa and i tried targeting them on fly... hahaha
  8. Cheers Mal, The retro revo's and dirty mullet are a delectably filty match. I was expecting to cop a hiding for it
  9. After a busy weekend breaming the Hawkesbury, swoffa and I decided to hit the water yesterday in search of green pastures east of the Harbour Bridge. Both of us are relatively new to the bays, so it was just going to be a bit of an exploration day on the water . It turns out that this section of the harbour has some serious potential with not just bream . Just as we suspected… A gentlemanly start of 7am was the call and the harbour was at its most beautiful. At least we had the weather on our side. We cruised up through the harbour and sussed out Woolloomooloo Bay for a couple of 27ers and then moved on to Elizabeth and Rushcutters Bay where swoff became unstuck on a serious pontoon dwelling fish . This was to become the norm, as the east harbour bream spots are inhabited by some seriously “bigger” fish. Next spot was a channel marker in 20-25 metres of water, which was showing up fish as we passed by. First cast saw me ripped to shreds by a suspect king. After a few more casts swoff landed a XOS tailor (51cm, swoff?), which was being shadowed by 3 rats. This got me into the action with a 55cm king, which was an unreal battle as always. After the immediate action we focused on bream and fished deep, where we found some good concentrations of fish. Swoffa’s bass minnow was belted first up and a lovely looking 35er surfaced. We spent the next 5 minutes trying to get the bugger to swim as the depth changed had distended its swim bladder. A bit of surgery with a straitened jighead and a crimped barb did the trick nicely and he was back down to the depths on his merry way. It’s a terrible feeling watching a bream of any size struggling around on the surface. So we were chuffed to get the fish swimming again . Another big tailor and a decent bream kept me busy for the next few casts along with swoffa being busted up one more time. 6lb leader doesn’t get you very far when fishing marker buoy chains. A few more 29ers hailed the call to end a lovely day on the water. More perfect conditions on the harbour I have not seen in a long time . Off the water by 2pm. Cheers, Andrew.
  10. Hey Rob, I can further recommend Mono who runs out of Brunswick Heads. He’s a real character who is known for getting amongst some incredible fish and his prices ain’t to bad. Not sure what is running at the moment, but give him a buzz. We got stuck into some massive kings last year with mono. Im still trying to recover to this day. Cheers, Andrew.
  11. Hey guys, I will be fishing the event as a non-boater for my first ABT and cant wait till the weekend to be honest. I have kinda been inactive on the boards and bream social scene for a good while, but plan to get stuck back into it now that I’m back in the country. I have been meaning to get into the ABT events earlier, but its taken me this long to get my act together. Looking forward to catching up with fellow raiders this weekend. Cheers and good luck lads! Andrew.

    Dead Fish

It sounds like a similar thing that happened this time last year mate. A pretty lengthy post was going thru the boards about this. Im not sure what the conclusion was though. I think it was a result of mass spawning that lead to a huge increase in the juvenile population, which led to a big die off. Come to think of of it now, there may have been a virus similar to the east coast pilchard virus that wiped them out. The length of the east coast was littered with dying leather jackets from the GBR down past Sydney. I remember being up the parra bream fishing boats and coming across jackets on their side and swimming around in circles on the surface. It was the same up the hawkesbury a few days latter. I remember a few of the regulars reported the same thing as far out as the shelf. Interesting to see if a few of the raiders come across some more of these dead fish. cheers, Andrew.
  14. Top fish Joe Sounds like a great day out on the water! So swoff, i guess we are hitting the Hacking on thurs? cheers, Andrew.
