Caught in upper George's around Captain Cook Bridge

I remember catching lots of these fish at that wharf around late afternoon with mince targeting yakkas. They are good eating. -

I been using chicken breast on frequent basis, I found the breams like it and I get the ocassional trev on it. Just wondering what other species fishraiders caught with chicken breast ?

Yesterday Morning Headed off to the Baths trying to get some squid without success, when I was reeling in my blue squid jig at a fast speed, I saw a few quick flashes of white what seemed to be kingie. Just wondering if anyone caught any kingies at the Gunnamatta Baths ?

Went for a fish this morning, armed with a kg frozen pillies. I was using 4lb line, pillie pieces on tiny hooks to catch some bream, I could see the little bream and trevallies pick the bait, all of a sudden a bonito barges thru them takes the bait and snaps my line. Awesome. Went heavier ,I used my other rod with 10lb line and upgraded to larger hook and used pillies cubes, the result: landed these two lil beauties.

pet mince works well for the yakkas, slimies on the other hand are hard to catch from my experience. However I once caught 30 cm plus slimie with bread moulded on size 4 hook.

Home Brand Meat Pies are 3 bucks for half dozen. Much safer and tastier than that.

Nice diagram mate , I using those small iqf squids, where abouts is the best spot to put the one hook thru and any half hitch is required ?

What is the correct way to rig a squid strip ? Pin it one end (hook once) or weave it through a number of times with the hook. Hooks - Circle and Suicide pattern.

I seen occasionally fishos using very fresh pillies (not frozen) wrapped in newspaper, I been to a few tackle stores but only can be the salted and frozen variety. Anyone know where in Sydney, you can buy fresh pillies ?

Noob question from me, What are the benefits of having solid glass tip as oppose with a rod that does not have one ?

Hi Rickster, I got 3 beads on the rig. 1 bead to stop the stopper going through the floater runners. 2 beads, these are places on each side of the running sinker. I used these as shock absorbers. Also stopping the running hitting the float runner.

Went blackie fishing on the weekend, On Saturday I was using pink coloured beads on my rig, I managed to get alot of hookup and one bust off resulting in losing my rig. On Sunday I fished with new rig with green coloured beads, I did not get much hook up or bites. I mean could be other factors I guess, what you do blackfish gurus think ?

Went for a fish this morning for some blackies, caught 6 around the 27-29 cm range and lost a few whoppers. Was using 4 lb mono, I gonna use heavier line tommorow and I hope get one of those 35cm plus models.

I recently been hooked in the world of blackfishing, Caught and ate some blackfish in my first two outings in Port Hacking. I found in the flesh there is some traces of sand/dirt that makes the eating experience not that great. Just wondering if others have such experience.

On Easter Saturday, went to catch some yakkas in georges river with a handline, size 12 hook and lamb mince. To my suprise I caught nice breambo measured at 31cm.

I guess one of the dilemmas i got is I don't have any braid as I only got some el cheapo monofilament would be quite hard for me to work the soft plastic. Its seems the best thing to do is save me soft plastics and use them when i get some braid.

Just wondering by putting a soft plastic on a hook leave it as you would a natural dead bait, does this work ? anyone tried that ?

wonder if its possible to catch pilchards ? cos I sick of paying money to the servos for stale frozen ones. I reckon the fresh ones prolly go like dynamite.

I undecided on what would be the best all purpose rig for landbased fishing. I reckon it is a toss up between the paternoster and running sinker rig. What are your opinion(s)?
