  1. Was thinking about going to parramatta to try and target some carp, but dont know anything about them except they love corn and they fight hard, so any tips.

And will the rain have any affect on the fishing?

Rigs and stuff like that, any info will be greatly apprecianted

    Cheers,Zac

A piece of bread on a small jig head mate

Cast it out and if they are about it wont take long

  2. Thanks for your input, much appreciated

I'm using a wilson LBG deluxe 9ft rod, Daiwa sealine LD30 reel, have a black magic 15kg mainline and a 100lb mono leader

I'm going for a wind on leader around 10m or so?

I have a range of hooks 5/0, 6/0, ,7/0 in octopus and circle.

I had read somewhere, that when your livie starts to take off to give the fish time to flip the bait around and then swallow. And strike once it takes of again?

I'm Targeting Kings, Cobia, Tuna. just about anything that will give me a good fight!

I'm fishing on the Central Coast, NSW

Dont strike if you're using circles.

  3. We managed to raise a school of yakkas there although they were absolute giants. The biggest we got measured 37cm, (if only i had taken a photo i would have had the fishraider record for yakka on bait!) so wayy to big for livies size.

I'd disagree about the yakkas at that size being too big. Throw one out next time, you might be pleasantly suprised.

  4. A mate and I fished Balls Head- land based, yesterday - very quite - about a dozen undersized fish but mate landed a good black fish when fshing for bream using bread - his favourite bait.

Anyone else fished there lately with any greater results - as first time and new to Sydney looking for good land based areas and finding out the best baits for the area for jew, brean and flatheads

    cheers

Top little spot. Make sure your spinning while waiting for your baits to be hit, some nice kings get through there :whistling: You can just about always plug a leathery at your feet as well if things are slow.

The big down side are the jet boats that seem to take joy in buzzing the ledge.

  5. Sounds like a good day out - well done.

I recently moved from N'cle and am searching for some good land based spots to fish for Jewies, tailor and kings - can anybody recommend any places - live at Milsons Point cheers

Ball's mate, you could almost walk to it.

  6. What are you on about mate?

Sorry Tan, on re-read I see what you mean. Think of it phonetically. "Shim - Who - mo?". I see where you think I may have been coming from but it certainly wasnt about that.

    Tight lines,

    Bob

  7. Lol

I have pleanty but anyone more than me is too many. Dont get me wrong, I love some company and will always have a chat to the bloke next to me, but solitude is sublime :)

  8. all .. thanks for the thoughts and the responses ... im unsurprised that fellow raiders (and im only a newbie so overstated myself here a touch!) feel the same way ....

    i think the answers are

    1. lead by example - so visibly clean up etc ...

    2. clean up after others - ie the embarrassment factor..

interested noone has suggested calling the rangers to deal with really boorish behaviour ....

The rangers already know. Alerting them will just emphasise the problem

  9. Rubbish......... the amount of rubbish i have picked up (others rubbish) at ledges up and down the coast is a disgrace. Dont hold back if you see these clowns leaving their crap about, have a go at them. You dont need to be confrotational or agro, just mention it.

Rubbish in spots like national parks is a major factor in management bodies restricting our activities. They know how to keep the areas clean, they keep us out. And everyone says " oh no I dont litter". Someone is and it is up to us to rectify the problem.

  10. Talk about lucky!

The only thing that amazes me is how someone could even think about fishing a spot like that in a 3M swell.

Bet they don't do it again, and with luck will spend a lot of time warning their mates.

Last thing we need is the government , thinking about "public safety" banning rock fishing because of stupid people not following the rules..... see my post under "Hill 60"

    Cheers

    Chris

No coincidence that you mention Hill 60 and Sanpper in the same breath. 2 of the filthiest leadges on the NSW east coast frequented by clowns who have no concern for their own safety. I would rather fish a puddle on the side of the road than either of these 2 places, very sad.

  11. Yep, I agree with Jewdreamer. Around the co-op wharf and breakwall. Also, maybe up along the beach at Shoal Bay or the shoreline up around Corlette/Salamander Bay. Watch fish sanctuary zones around the place, e.g. Little Bay near Halifax.

One thing I always recommend to anybody visiting Port Stephens. Grab some bread and a snorkel and go to Fly Point around the top of the tide and feed the fish. Amazing! If it's too cold to snorkel, just walk in to knee depth and feed the fish.

    Baz

Yes Fly Point, very cool. I was snorkling and then something over a metre long and looking like a baby croc moves on the bottom some 2 feet away from me. Yep a MASSIVE flatty. Didnt that scare the something out of me.
