hi guys went out for a fish at balls head on friday night fishe high tide and 2 hours after turn, caught 4 legal snapper at 37 cm
. tried to catch yakkas at jettys, and wharfs in a few areas nothing around, where can i get some?
is this landbased?
-
NICE CATCH! that wharf u got the 93cm jewie , its in greenwich wharf isnt it lol
-
yeah i came back with nothing aswell. i guess better luck next time!
-
Its a bit late now i guess but anyway.. the top 20 mins or the bottom 20 mins. umm averages id say 15lb plus , my best there went over 30lb(from a boat nearby ) ,, if u are fishing the wharf itself cast to your left back up river as far as possible into a deep hole there. Best bait by the way for me has always been cheap arse dead pili's, livies havnt seemed to cut it there for some reason. Dont expect to get hits all night, u may get 1 or 2 but they will be biggens so have good equipement and make sure ya rods not just sitting there in gear because it will dissapear never to be seen again.
okay thanks will give it a go!

Catch some live bait and send it out
JEWFISH. ALSO CALLED MULLOWAY
thanks
whats the best tide to fish for jewfish whats the average sizes u get down there? as i know big tides for beach fishing is good for jewfish
but i wouldn't have a clue for wharf fishing
cheers!

-

cheers

To be honest i dont know if its the inner or outer but im sure someone here could tell u exactly. Bear in mind the opening and closing times of the gate. They arent sign posted but the earliest ive been there is bout a lil after 7am leaving by 5pm. Entry was fine then but then ive been there later on in the morning on a few occasions before where the gates were shut!
can u still get in if the gates are closed somehow?

hey guys went out for a short session with a mate yesterday , our destination was to head to whale beach and fish off the rocks on the left on side and armed with pillies . But as we got there the wind was blowing us away and the swell was crazy . but we decided to give it a go anyways . after 4hrs went past and we haven't caught anything at all . we decided to call it a day due to the wind and we haven't caught zip all. but in the end it was a good day out sunny and all besides the wind.
btw have anyone fished off whale beach , or off the rocks . and what spices do you normally get down there . cheers
-
Whatever he said. Occasionaly you can catch some really nice trevally there. But usually at night its just tailors. It would be good to get there a bit early because it tends to get packed out.
this will be day time fishing guys , so im just hoping that i can score a fish or two , for the table cheers
and i was wondering is it any productive on the rocks of bundeena , its just right next to jibbon beach on the left hand side . thanks
-
hey guys me and a couple of mates are heading to bundeena this Saturday morning. and would like to know what we could catch down there , we are going to fish on the left side of jibbon beach . and which is on the rock side .
and has anyone had any success down there cheers. we might even tryin spining

I've only been there once during gale winds, however a very fishy looking spot that for sure. Nothing like our sandstone down in Sydney, do you guys wers spikes or stick with some grippy joggers ?
Regards Charles
yeah i ware rock hoppers , to go through those slippery weeds , which can cause a nasty fall or even go for a swim
-
It's also a very good big jew spot if you fish it at the right time.
Only at night though & you MUST know what you're doing.
Cheers,
Grant.
i think one time my friend might of been busted off by a big jewie there , he was using live squid and the jew was basically unstoppable . btw are u caught any there yet if so .. what is the best time for it thanks! and is winter better then summer at snapper point? cheers
-
G'day,
are they still keeping the entry gate locked until 0500 or so? Or can you access it it all hours again? Hit that spot a couple of years ago and the gate was locked - ranger opened it around 0530. I've caught kings on live yakkas under floats there and spun up the usual pelagics with metals or whole pillies under floats in the past - but be very careful, a very dangerous spot - I believe it is in the top 5 in terms of fatalities in NSW.
Cheers,
Klainz.
well i only have been to snapper to 2-3 times and so far the gates havn't been locked for me thank god!
but i think u can just pull the gate open thats what we do and after we go, just close it back
. just keep the place tidy when u leave then there shouldnt be a problem

hey guys went out today at 3 am for a fish , got to the spot at 5.20am , had two of my 13ft rods out, first one went in with a strip of squid , next one was a livie (yellowtail) under a float , then it was all a waiting game for something to grab it . 20mins later the rod with squid was being SLAM! , BANG as i set the drag and strike!! . first run thought it was a kingie or could be a snapper , then i thought again if it was a kingie or snapper it would of went harder . next thing it came up on the rocks it was a shovel nose shark ! it weighted 6kg . and yeah after that fished for 3more hours . but was getting little picks by leather jackets and other reef fish , so we pulled the plug and pack up. we also took some great shot of the place. and it was a great day to be out ! . by any chance guys have you caught any kings in this area ? or other pleagics if so what is the place time for it and what bait usually do they take? Thanks cheers! I know the salmons and tailors were there but they weren’t biting
-
mate i've never fished these places but i suggest you may get blown of them tonight, horrible conditions.. you are more keen than i am.. good luck!
livebait!!
yes i am really keen , and dying for a fish right now , due to commitments and work this is the only time of my night i can go for a fish hahas, so i should take my chances
-
