  1. Hi all, Just a quick fishing report from a few days back. Went out with a brother and uncle for a few short hours in the harbour (around eastern suburbs) on the last day of the year, hoping the rain would stay away. Managed a fair number of bream and trevally and couple of 30-32 cm whiting. My uncle managed to land a 51 cm trevally which is always fun on 4lb line. Gotta love how they fight. It's always nice to be able to catch a feed. I can't count the number of undersized snapper brought in at about 28-29 cm. The interesting thing was how occasionally in bringing a fish to the surface would be followed by kingfish or two, which would then hang around the boat inquisitively for a few minutes. Quite surreal. Managed to convince one to take a piece of squid that was bounced on the surface a bit, but the particular light rod/line I had at hand that time never had a chance. Next time! Now I don't know if these pictures will work ... Regards,
  2. Thanks for the feedback ... might go with the sign in this case, happy to be risk averse
  3. Hi all, Picked up a couple of nice sized whiting around the Roseville bridge last week ... currently in the freezer. Would you eat fish from that area? I've heard a couple of rumours lately that the area might not be so friendly? Cheers,
  4. Thanks for all the advice. Hadn't thought of using for burley. Might take a shot at eating the bream ... should be right, but I think I'll be on my own. Don't think the missus will touch em
  5. Hullo, We've got a bunch of frozen fish in our freezer, bream, jewies, whiting ... anyone know how long you can keep frozen fish such that it is still edible? A little bit embarrassing just how long they've been there, but it has been a while, and the missus wants the freezer space ... Cheers,
  6. Hi all. Last week spent some time with the in-laws up at Bateau Bay and managed to get a bit of fishing under the belt, so thought I'd better drop in a quick report - no photos sorry. Managed to squeeze in a surprising amount of fishing at the entrance (yes didn't see that much of the in-laws), but it was hard going. Put in 11 hrs with hardly a nibble before grabbing first decent fish with a 32cm bream. It's real quiet up there at the moment. Tried every trick in the book, and eventually perseverance won out. By the end of the week had a mixed max tally of 3 bream, 1 flathead, 1 whiting, 1 tailor and 1 trevally. Not exactly a great haul given the hours put in . but loved every minute of it . and in the end, still managed enough for a meal for the extended family. Cheers,
  7. Thanks for the advice ... have been really impressed with how helpful everyone is here at FR (have been reading for a while ... just took a while to get around to signing up) .. Am keen to have a crack next time I'm at Woy Woy. Expect to have to be there for work every now and then, so figure I'd chuck some gear in the back of the car and try arrange timing of any work to finish up at about knock-off time
  8. Hi all (new here .. first post), I'm wondering if anyone can provide any advice about having a crack at a land based spot around Woy Woy? Was thinking in the channel south of Pelican Island ... ? Thanks ...
