  1. first report of a decent King inside the bay...fantastic effort and at anchor as well wonder if its got anything to do with that 25/26 degree water coming down the coast pushing now within 10km of the coast off Cape Banks..!!? Again, well done.... Kev
  2. Great Post there nbhood, yes the Jewel of the South definitely shines in the summer sun...hey that yak of yours has more gear on it than my 6 metre...!!!!!
  3. Thanks Poacher.....hope we can get amongst the fish in the coming weeks...
  4. Great feed there....that Bonnito would have been fun doing the tango with !!! Hey what method were you employing with the livies..? eg drifting with a livey down deep and one on the surface ?., or downrigging,..squid/yellowtail ? thanks
  5. Wow...incredible...what a catch !!!...well done...
  6. Beautiful catch there FishHunter...Its always good when you have a look around and find a new bit of reef and it produces quality fish like you've shown...well done... The bay has been kind of hard of late, very hit and miss (but thats fishing I guess)...you really need to move around, I typically will spend no more than 45-60min in one location, as I think if I havent managed to raise any sort of interest by then, chances are no ones home... BTW, roughly what depth of water were you in ...? I find that 30-40m seems to give me the best results
  7. Good to see that the Bay is showing signs of a promising summer... Great catch Formosan... Were you able to target them inside the Bay or outside the heads? (if you don't mind sharing) :-)
  8. Hey Trungy, I've never caught a squid in the Bay (not through lack of trying either )but would love to...where can I start to try and catch these ?.... The only place Ive really tried is on the eastern side of bare Island...Thanks in advance... Kev
  9. Fishing was very slow @ 40 crocs over 5 days ? ...wish my "slow days" were that busy .!!!...great fish..
  10. Im in the Shire and the BOVA Compounding Chemist at Caringbah makes them up...(ET I think lives in the Shire as well, hence the local chemist). Give them a call and they would be able to give you more advice Suite 4, 304-318 Kingsway CARINGBAH NSW 2229 Tel: (02) 9525 3044 Fax: (02) 9542 7645 admin@bovacompounding.com.au http://www.escapewithet.com/sea_sickness.aspx Regards Kev
  11. My father suffers from sea sickness as well .He has been on those special Et tablets for the last 4 years and they work perfectly..1 hour before the launch and every 4-6 hours as required...Keep your head up and referenced to the horizon..If you need to look down to tie rigs, only short periods with the melon in the downward position...!! Keep a few bottles of ginger ale on the vessel as well and keep on taking small sips... Obvious things like a small, dry brekky ( try and stay away from diary products) will definitely help... Hope next time will be a better outcome for you mate....
  12. Hi Mistress, thanks mate for the advice....we will be heading down again hopefully in Jan to give it another go.... Regards
  13. Hi Mistress, Was the 120ft of water inside or outside the bay ?...and at what depths were you putting the bomb at ??...The reason I ask is that we have had limited success on the downrigger and I hope we are not doing it the wrong way....Do you set your depth based on some rule...eg 3/4 of the depth of the water your in ??...eg 100ft water depth, so set the downrigger at 70ft ...??? appreciate any advice,, Thanks Kev
  14. Thanks Bentstik for the input...I went to our local TackleWorld and BCFs and went through a few sticks.... I looked at the Silstar JSH, the Fin-nor, Monster Mesh Max, the Demon blood and T curve Jig spin 200..All are good rods and I dont think you could go wrong with either of them... Loaded up, they all had a distinct parobolic character to them and the entire stick down to the butt was in full use.. Have to say though that the standouts (IMHO) were the Silstar stick and Fin-nor in the 80lb.. both 6 footers...the Demon blood in the Pe 6/8 is also a very good stick, tough as nails but at 5ft 6" was a little short for me. The least expensive was the Silstar, but it didnt feel as though it was any less able to complete the task...The Fin-nor 80lb weighed bugger all as well... Didnt have a chance to give the LF Venom a go...but have read that these rods are absolute bullet proof so decisions decisions....I'll have to give them all another go and see thanks again for all the advice...I'll give the Tcurve 200/400 another go as it got a couple of thumbs up here..will keep you posted... Kev
  15. Forgot to mention the 1.5kg squid...Had a livie down at Middle ground and decided to bring it up to check on its wellbeing...thought I had tangled up with the other yakka down there but as it came up, a huge squid had latched onto the livebait (killed it with two bites around its gills and back from its head)...called Pauli over to grab the net but soon as it saw the net, it would let go....did this half a dozen times and finally decided to rig a Yo Zuri squid jig on..Thought it may only be interested in the yakka, but I pulled it out of the water and the jig went in...within 30 secs, it had latched on and now it was ours...!!!! blasted enough ink to coat the boat and in it came...the mantle measured 40cm..!! first time catching this size squid....imagine that thing on the DR...!!!!!
