  1. hi raiders. just wanna know which is the better tide to go fishing.from low tide to high tide or high tide to low tide??? we mainly fish off rocks. based on my experience, we catch more fish from high tide to low tide off the rocks. i just wanna know if fishos have similar experiences. we always check what time is the high tide and we fish around 2hrs before and after the high tide. we also apply this when we go beach fishing. any input or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.
  2. hi. bass pt is not producing alot of keepers lately. only managed 1 bream the last time we went there. you better off trying hill60 (port kembla). we caught some bonito and salmon a couple weeks ago using squid skirts. bass pt was producing plenty this time last year but since the beginning of feb this year it seems to have quiet down. if you decide to go to bass pt please let us know if you catch anything. thanks and regards. the gate opens around 6am and closes around 7pm. goodluck.
  3. Hi. The spot we went to is off bilga crescent. Is that julianne rocks?
  4. Hi raiders, We went to little bay today to check the spot. Its a hard spot to get access to. You really need rock shoes. We got there around 6am. There were about a dozen fishos already. Managed to catch bonito on lure bream on pillies blackfish on local weeds. Got really soaked. It was my 1st time on that spot. You really need to be fit to go to that spot. I basically just made it back up to my car. We spent around 5hrs there. Saw some fishos catching kingys on live yakkas. Excellent spot but will not recommend to novice rocks fishos. It can really be dangerous if u dont keep an eye on the waves. All up it was a good day. here's a pic of some of the species we caught.
  5. Hi. Thanks for the report on avoca. Yeah, looks like its time to change my rig to target other species like bream, trevs and maybe catch my 1st jewie. Regards
  6. Hi. The last time we bagged out on the bonito was around the 3rd wk of jan. Since then we only caught one or two. One of my mate went to hill60 and bass pt yesterday and caught nothing. The bonito probably r heading back up north. Might go to avoca this weekend and check if the bonito r still there. Regards
  7. Nice 1 mate...ty for doing a landbased report...youre right...its getting rare these days u read lb reports...well done...
  8. Hi. Not really. Its really been very quiet lately. Same at bass pt. Regards
  9. hi raiders, went to hill60 yesterday. got there around 9am. left around 2pm. caught 2 bonito. lost 1 monster salmon. used squid skirt and pilchards. caught 1 bonito on lure 1 on pilchard. caught the monster salmon on lure but lost it on the way up. as soon as the salmon got out of the water, the hook came off. saw a large school around 200m to 300m from the rocks. the school stayed for around five minutes then left. couldnt tell what school they are. one fisho said "tuna". tried to cast to where the school but couldnt reach the school. wish i was on a boat.
  10. Thank you very much people...ill try those spots you guys mentioned and let you all know the results...regards
  11. Ty for the advice. Can you please tell me the spots i can try and catch one. Thanks. We normally go port kembla shellharbour and avoca. Also tried the northern beaches(whale collaroy curlcurl newport) but we keep catching the pelagics. Regards...ps...we are landbased coz we dont have a boat.
  12. Hi raiders. Just wanna know if anyone had caught a jewie off the rocks. I always read reports jewie caught on the beach wharf boat but never off rocks. I normally fish off rocks for a while now and i never seen anyone caught one off the rocks. If anyone out there know a spot where i can catch one pls let me know. Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi. Took the wife n kids to bass pt today. Got there around 8am. The spot was only half full. Very strange. Spoke to some fishos at d carpark was was told the bad news. No fish. Anyway, decided to rig up the two rods. One for bait one for lure. Kept an eye on the fishes spinning but saw no one catching anything. So decided to use pillies on ganged hooks with float. Every five minutes, had to replace bait due very large number of nibblers. Changed the rig to bream rig and started catching bream. Unfortunately only one keeper. By midday everyone left except us. The wind started to blow so decided to go home around 1pm. Where all the bonito gone to??? Didn't see even 1. Very very strange. Anyway, at least the weather was good and the waves were ok. Was a bit worried due to the weather warning. Did Anyone go fishing today???
  14. Hi max. Yes the spot is the right side of the stw. From the carpark, you can go down in front of the carpark then go around the rocks on the left side or go up the hill and follow the path going to the right side. Its better to go there in daytime specially it is your 1st time. It can be very dangerous there at times specially after dark. Always watch the waves. Plenty of bonito there at the moment. The spot gets really packed specially on weekends. Try to get there as early as you can. Some even stay there overnight on weekends. Hope you catch heaps. Regardd
  15. Hi, I highly recommend you try squid skirts or octopus bait. It is one of the cheapest and very effective lure for bonito salmon kingfish. Below is a guide on how to rig and what you need. 1. Squid skirt or octopus bait. You can buy it from any good tackle shop for less $10 a pack. 2. A small bean sinker or bead. Just big enough for the skirt. 3. 2/0 to 4/0 hook. Mustad is the one i use. 4. Large float 5. Ball sinker. No. 5 and over for more casting distance 6. 20lb to 30lb trace. At least 3meters. Mono will do the job. Same with the mainline. 7. Barrel swivel. Size based on your trace and mainline. How to rig 1. Cut a hole on the skirt so you can insert your trace 2. Once you insert the trace to the skirt, put the bean sinker or bead 3. Tie your hook at the end after the bead or sinker 4. Tie the other end of the trace to the swivel 5. Insert your mainline to the float then followed by the sinker 6. Use a float stopper or stopper knot to your mainline for the float 7. Tie your trace with the skirt to the mainline 8. Now you are ready to catch your favorite pelagic species Hope this helps and hope you can catch heaps. Regards
  16. Hi raiders, Went to hill60 today. Got there around 7am. Caught 2 bonito and 2 trevally in the 1st hr. By 10am the place was packed. Caught 5 bonito by 11am. Also managed to catch a kingy but had to let it go. It was only 59cm. By 12pm, bagged out on the bonito so we decided to go home. We used squid skirts / octopus bait to catch the bonito and pilchards for the kingy and trevally. Hill60 is producing plenty of bonito at the moment. If anyone wants to catch some, squid skirts on 3m trace with float is the best rig anyone can use. Bonito kingfish salmon loves squid skirts. They simply cant resist when u spin using this type if lure. It is also heaps of fun when these species chase the squid skirts and try to eat it specially the bonito. Happy fishing all.
  17. Thanks for the advice...ill try to get there one of these days n let u know the results. Happy new year to all...
  18. Nice catch. Can u pls tell me whereabouts at picnic pt do u fish??? Btw hill60 is in port kembla. Around 15mins from bass pt which is in shellharbour. Regards ps im still trying to catch my 1st jewie. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks
  19. Hi raiders. Port Kembla is currently producing plenty of bonito and kingfish. My mate caught a 81cm kingie off the rocks last Sunday on lure. It's his first time to catch one that size on lure. Sorry no pics coz his phone got very wet and now it won't work anymore. Happy holidays everyone.
  20. Hi. Took the kids to avoca yesterday. Got there around 2pm. Went straight to the rocks to check if there's any action. There were around 20 fishos. Quickly set up our rods n started spinning. After 1hr. Nothing whatsoever so started using mullet strips as bait. Still nothing. So by 5pm we decided to pack up. The Kids were disappointed. I'll take them to Shellharbour next week to catch some bonito. Probably won't go to avoca for a while now. Should have taken the kids down south. Merry Xmas to all.
  21. Hi raiders. Went to bass pt with my two mates. Got there around 7am. There were around 20 fishos spinning and most of them were catching bonito. We caught around 10 bonito between the three of us in 15mins. There must be a large school around. We kept on catching bonito almost every 5 mins then it started to slow down after 8am. The wind started to blow around 10am. We ended up with 23 bonito. We were all very happy because the last time we only managed 1 salmon. One of my mate was extremely happy because he finally caught a bonito on lure. Now we don't have to buy fresh bait. We can now save at least $20 every time we go fishing. it takes around 2hrs for us to get there. that's at least $20 worth of fuel. its all worth it. catching something when we go fishing is 'priceless'.
  22. HI RAIDERS. JUST A QUICK REPORT. MY MATES WENT FISHING MONDAY(BASS PT) AND TODAY (PORT KEMBLA). BAGGED OUT ON THE BONITO IN AROUND 2HRS ON BOTH DAYS.
