  1. Ripper mate good stuff!!

    i still haven't landed one jew yet gone down and caught live mullet in the arvo a few times,

    hooked em up that night every time i have done it i have never got even a tap....

    If you have any tips feel free to offer only too keen on catching a jewey of my own.

    Cheers, Mick :beersmile::beersmile:

  2. My mate and i found a cracker of a flatty spot just down the local creek mouth to the river, we were getting tonnes of Flatty there most afternoons but not really keeping any maybe 1 or 2 a visit.

    The fish we were pulling in were all 45 to 55cm, until one arvo my mate pulled out a 68cm cracker!

    I wanted to let her swim being a breeder but my mate being relatively new to fishing wouldn't have a bar of it and took her home for a nice feast.

    My question is a know that a large group of smaller males will hang around a female in whatever certain area, but if we took the breeding female out of a certain area does this mean the smaller male specimens are just going to up and leave in search of another female because we really haven't seen any since!!!?

  3. Hey guys my names Mick,

    I live in Sydney in Panania/Picnic Point area love fishing probably go about 3 or 4 times a weeks after work or whenever i can get out down the Georges.

    Been fishing since i was a nipper i've now just turned 21 and have become a lot more keen on the fishing of late, am loving the site so far and it's providing me with some great information and allowing me to chuck in my own 2 cents.

    Look forward to chatting with you all and maybe even catching up for a fish sometime.

    Cheers!! Mick :beersmile::thumbup:

  4. Yea i always burley up bread and actually find it a lot more effective to use prawn once there excited, you see the big ones a fair bit but only ever caught a couple...

    maybe because im fishing on mud flats? Very shallow water i actually walk out and they burley up around me.

  5. Good job dude i find it so easy to catch the smaller mullet you can catch them one after the other but i rarely catch the bigger ones they're hard to burley up and when i do catch them im always on 2 pound line because im fishing for the smaller ones for liveys and can hardley ever land them the line hold fine but the hooks always too small bends out.

    Good job mate!

  6. A predictive model or study can't read a fishermans mind, more money wasted on useless studies imo.

    Cheers,

    Leo

    If ther persons dumb enough to go out in the weather after knowing the prediction that's their own fault.

    I am sure however that for those smart enough to understand whats what, that it would save lives. :1fishing1:

    Just curious here and this may be abit funny to some and may save a life in the process,if people want to risk there lives fishing off rocks that are known to be hazardous for fishing,why cant they wear a life jacket?

    most these lives that have been lost,what was the cause of death,drowning perhaps?

    It may seem funny to some,but i think the idea of wearing a life jacket at a dangerous rock fishing spot,could ideally one day save another life,well thats my 2cents.

    I agree with you on that simple and easy.. :thumbup:

  7. Does it matter if the weather is cold or hot windy or no wind when fishing for squid? Thanks for any help

    Cheers Joe :1fishing1:

    I have found when fishing in high i get much less action but then again i have only been fishing squid for a couple of months.

  8. Hi all, :1prop:

    Myself and a fellow young raider * fisherman1994* are going for a fish in pittwater Friday night, the weather looks good and hopefully there wont be much wind around :1badmood: . We have checked the tides, and intend to fish 2 hrs or so either side of high tide which is around 7.30pm. The trouble is that we don't know of any spots in pittwater, and the closest one that we have heard of would be flint and steel. Although we both have gone rummaging through old posts on Jewish locations there isn't any spots mentioned inside pittwater itself. I haven't heard of any reports of them being caught in pittwater so i don't actually know if its worth a shot. If anyone knows of any spots at all that have produced in the past it would be much appreciated. Or just a heads up if its worth going out Friday night.

    Thanks guys, Young Gun and Fisherman1994. :beersmile:

    You're in the same boat as me mate, im going fishing with good weather and perfect tides this week for Jewies down the Georges River but no one seems to able to name too many locations further up the Estuary system most of the advice is out to the bays.

    I have heard good things about trolling through Pitt-Water and i have seen a couple of Dvd's where they have been catching Kingies and Jews Trolling through passed where all the boats are moored.

    They were using Squids and yellow tail trolled behind the boat at different depths covered in Glow Bait during the day. fresh and live.

    Sorry i don't know too much about Pittwater hope this helps at least a little...
