  1. I was hoping to ask him something. If anyone knows him could they let him know I've sent him a PM. Thanks Neil

    New trailer

Whaler, I missed out on the boat we were looking at. I am from the 'gong and I'll get in touch for the trailer if another boat comes up. But don't hold it for me if you are selling. Thanks Neil

    New trailer

Whaler 255! That would be great if you could let me know about the trailer. Is the upgrade recent? Spend. The same as everyone. As little as possible. Seriously though, I've seen the alloy ones from the states by Ace for around $5k to what looks like the same sold here in Aus for about $11k. Adams Marine is around $6k. I haven't priced any of the main players yet. Let me know. Neil

    New trailer

Thinking of getting a Whittley 660 and some for sale don't have trailers. Adams Marine has got good prices and made in Aus but haven't heard anything about them. Has anyone dealt with them? Can't afford alloy which would be nice, so looks like galv. Can't even find any second hand. Neil
  5. It's only a little shark. I grew up near the lake. Collecting mussels, prawns, fish and ocky. The ramp we use is in Berkeley Harbour. Double with plenty of parking and a bit sheltered. Just a bit to the east is a nice grassy area for the family. The ramp next to the wooden boardwalk is a bit shallow. There is a good fish and chip shop in the harbour as well. The lake itself has had a hard life but is fairing well lately. The depth used to be about 1.7m most of the way across but I'm not sure now with the tides. Neil
  6. Sido, I'd leave it. They aren't heavy to winch up. I had one for 10years and never got the axles wet. My current boat is a different story. Whittley 580. I've adjusted everything and still have to shove all the way and winch like a demon to get it back up, which isn't nice with arthritic shoulders. Huey. Does that trailer on the vid have centre rollers as well? Neil
  7. Double check all joins in the cable and the plug. Seems like an earth problem, maybe. Is the cable sealed at the lights? A new plug at the car with LED's is a cheap way to check if all lights have power from the car.

    Pfd1

I've found about 5 different brands. All yellow or yellow and red. One strap with buckle or two straps. Full zip, half zip or no zip. Stand up collar or lay back. I've got a few places around the local area that I'll try on and let you know how I go. Neil

    Anchoring

Thanks Geoff. I have just bought a Super Sarca but haven't used it yet. So I geuss I don't need the cable ties. I thought that I still had to do something to not lose it. I suppose I should have read the blurb a bit closer. Neil

    Pfd1

Hi all. I want to purchase some comfortable PFD1's. I don't think I'll bother with the inflatables a/c we don't go to sea often, so can't see the point of servicing something that won't be used much. So, I want to get a couple of comfortable vest type jackets. There is about 5 different brands in one of the catalogues, which is 4 too many choices for me to choose from. We are off to the Whitsundays soon and I want my wife to feel safe when running around the islands. So, what are people using that can be worn for a few hours at a time without feeling all bound up. We keep a couple of the block foam types in the boat but if I can replace them with something that will be comfortable to use I will be happy. Regards Neil

    Anchoring

Hi all. I've seen a few posts about people losing anchors. Others say they zip tie the chain chain to the shank so they can easily retrieve it. I'm having trouble visualising this zip tie stuff so was hoping someone could post pics or a graphic of how this is done. Thanks Neil

    Galvanic Corrosion

Got some 19mm aluminium from 'Alumark". $20 for 6m. Fitted stainless foot and plastic light perfectly. No sanding, grinding or sweating. Only have to lengthen the cables, seal it and I'm done.

    Galvanic Corrosion

Thanks Rick, Ray. If I can get some stainless I'll do that o/wise galv. It's easy to get.
  14. I have a stainless anchor light pole at about 1000mm tall on the cabin of my glass boat and want to extend it to about 1300mm to clear my rack. If I can't find stainless, 19-20mm dia, would it be better to use aluminium or galvanised steel riveted to the base? Properly treated. I don't want to have to wire up another on top of the rack if I can help it. Thanks Neil
