  1. Thanks guys, the first couple of runs he pulled really hard and moved the back of the boat around...but he tired pretty quickly and was quite easy to bring up beside the boat whithin a few minutes. I was thinking about keeping him for dinner, but i had my girlfriend and little pet dog on board which didnt give us alot of room for a shark so i thought itd be less drama in letting him go Also it was the first shark id caught so i wasnt sure on the best way to kill it. Do you have to bleed them and how would you do it? And as Phil queried...how do you prepare and cook it? Cheers
  2. Hi All, Just back from holiday in Jervis Bay (great area). Took the boat out from Callala Bay and wanted to fish around middle ground and the heads to try and snag my first kingfish. Unfortunately on this day while leaving callala bay boat ramp the motor sucked in some weed and it blocked the water intake. So instead of getting out near the heads i ventured only about 1km out into the bay and drifted around. Catching a couple of livies, i put one out on a poor mans downrigger. After about 20mins my rod bent right over and i grabbed it only to find whatever it was didnt hook up. I reeled in to see that half the livie was gone...as the bait got close to the boat i noticed something bigger following the bait so i opened the spool and dropped the bait down a few metres. The bait got crunched again and this time it hooked up. It took off dragging out line in short bursts but it tired pretty quickly and i was able to bring it alongside the boat after a few minutes for a couple of photos before letting it go. I estimate it was approx 4.5 to 5ft, and great fun to catch. PS- ignore timestamp on photos, camera needs resetting. Cheers

  5. Hi Guys, Late last year i bought a new boat and ive been really enjoying getting back into fishing (Pittwater mostly). Im having problems with the new yamaha 40HP. When trolling at low speeds for extended periods (1-2hrs) the engine will cut out. When i check the plugs they're covered in Oil, i clean them up and it runs great again. Ive just had the motor serviced for the first time and the dealer said its quite common for the Yamaha to do this when new and it should settle down after a while. The motors done between 15-20 hrs. Initially when running the motor in i was using the suggested 50:1 oil mix and after that ive been using 100:1. Im using Yamalube Oil. Im just wondering if anyones had this problem before? Is there anything i can do to stop the plugs from fouling? How long till the motor is run in? Its frustrating as cant troll as much as i want to. cheers Cantona
  6. no worries mate, casting in hard lures like the ecogear sx48f and a 6" rapala minnow. Im fairly new to lures so was a real buzz to hookem up.
  7. quote name='Young Gun' date='Nov 12 2009, 08:36 PM' post='330101'] Hi raiders Me and a few mates are heading out in pittwater this weekend in my boat conditions look great. I was just wondering if anyone has been out there in the last few days and could shed a little bit of light on the current situation. Ive heard about tailor smashing the surface around stokes point and the occasional king school but thats about it. Or if anyone is heading out in pittwater this Saturday morning for a fish. Cheers guys YG Hiya Young Gun, First post here so g'day to all.. Was in the pittwater last Sunday, came across a school of Tailor feeding on the surface between towlers bay and careel bay. Ended up with a nice little catch. Good luck this weekend!! [
