  1. If you see me in a red kayak come and say g'day, I will be on the water most days
  2. Same here two weeks at Tuross, sub and surface lures, wading the sand banks as usual and christening my new hobie outback, oh it's gunna be awesome, send me a pm, sounds like you are into the same game, we can have a fish together I'm not taking the prawn gear, the moons no good
  3. I fish there every Xmas land based, for two weeks, now I'm not like hodgy, he is the guru, but I have had some success over the years, forget the area at the first caravan park on the right, it's a little tidel but also a little muddy and shallowish. If u try hard u can do the oyster bed on the south side of the bridge of the main hwy, you can do the snags up the river which is further south up a dirt road opposite the nursery, u think its a private road but it isn't until you hit the river, further south at the steel bridge near a boat ramp on the river, the rocks near the inlet caravan park always catch luderick, or wade the boat ramp area, this is where I fish most. flatties, salmon, tailor, whiting, the odd baby pinky, and of course the appearance of a seal, dolphins, eagles emu"s or kangaroo I love this place, if u see a guy wading the flats in an acubra hat or in a red kayak, that's me, say g'day
  4. well done, i am heading there again for two weeks in a couple of days Tuross is heaven, i just love the place,it is my favourite place as i love to wade and throw lures I am hoping to target all the bread and butters this year, poppers, surface and divers, a little bait fishing with the kids and i may even throw a larger live bait out to see whats around What marinade base did you use on the chicken and was it cooked? if you see a guy in a tan akubra hat and khaki fishing top wading the shallows of inlet rivermouth or boat ramp area say gday knackers cheers and good fishing,
  5. Jenno, thanks for the heads up on that lure, i looked at it and looked at it, its a Strike Pro Bass-X 5.5cm pink back with clear belly, colour number 911GA, i was also told that lure is picking up some bream down here in melbourne also, now you tell me this is a cracker unfortunately no i do not wish to sell it. It was the only one in stock also, so thats no good to you. PM sent
  6. my mistake and a very good pickup, i havent kept the packaging, but i do recall wanting the eco's and picking up a couple but putting them back when i saw the strikepro at half the price and very simular.
  7. SAFish - the 2nd box are strike pro's, a very good lure for the price, all the lures here apart from 4 of the poppers are see through, im into bothe the natural immitations and the yellows in see through. i got them from a shop in melbourne, but i had to phone around to find the NW pencils and sugapen, in fact i phoned the wholesaler for a store as not many shops down here stock them. What a runaround, i had to drive for an hour to the store but got them in the end Rockfisherman - lol know you have made me think i havent got enough colour variation
  8. Hey guys, i love seeing pics of lures so i thought i would throw up some pics (hopefully it works) of my recent purchases. Unfortunately they are addictive and i couldnt help myself. Top left to right, 2nd row left to right, and so on The 1st pic top 3 are baby rovers 50 next 2 are NW pencils 52 then a sugapen 70 (im thinking i may have to change to a smaller hook size on the sugapen for sand whiting ) What are your thoughts 2 eco's with a Shiraso minnow 48 pencil in the middle 2nd pic strikepro 8+ and 5+ divers 3rd pic poppers - 2 bubblepops, a strikepro and a few surecatch 4th pic, I saw this pic in my file so placed it in, my daughter a couple of years ago at the age of 4, showing me how its done with a 52cm flathead, she hooked, retrieved and landed herself. All that practice in the lounge room turning the reel handle paid off. Im so proud.
  9. wowzers hodgey, i bet you will be itching to hit the water after xmas now, just awsome, i cant wait to get there in the new year
  10. no new kits on the market that anyone knows of
  11. hey guys i was wondering what is the best thing nowadays is to keep you lures in. im struggling to find exactly what i want. Pics would be great also cheers
  12. Well i took the rod out this morning, and threw a few lures around, to see how it performed. I went down to Emerald lake, many of you may know it, its the lake Puffing Billy goes to. Only 15 minutes from where i live. I started with an old RT shallow diver approx 80mm in length. I was a bit dissapointed, to see the lure only cast 20-25 meters as i thought the rod would really throw it a lot further. I then placed a small popper of 35mm on and then a strikepro shallow diver 40mm. I couldnt believe it when my casts were going slightly longer than the heavier lure. These lures were casting 25meters with a slight cross wind. Overall i was reasonably happy with the rod, The graphites certainly do act differently to glass rods and it will be interesting to feel its reaction with a fish on, and not be surrounded by trees and shrubs so i can give it a good flick with the wind at my back.
  13. they do put up a good fight dont they, once you get a few of these babies, excuse the pun, but your hooked
  14. im hoping those in the know will be able to name a lure i saw a bloke use. he was casting long distances and retrieving it at an amazingling rapid pace. it was a pencil lure that looked very much like a bassday sugapen in a blueish colour http://www.bassday.co.jp/english/fe_catlog/e_sgp.html although i cannot recall if it had a rounded nose or flatter. it was a surface lure, and i would say definately hard body floater. cast over shallow sandflats when being retrieved at the fast pace it seemed to track straight thru the water, leaving a raised wake above it and maybe some minor splash. only some times was the rod raised in a jerk motion, the majority of the time it was purely pulled through the water by fast reel retrieval. it was shaped more like the sugapen, could it have been a NW Pencil or Bevy Pencil and what are the differences is these four in action, the bevy, the NW 09, NW 99 and sugapen.
  15. ok, well i shopped around on the net and also a few tackle shops. i ended up trading in my new tica, for a Berkley Diablo, 1 piece, graphite 7'2 2-4kg spin. no money changed hands so im pretty happy. i hope it goes well, it certainly appears to be a good rod
