Launched just before sunrise with the plan of catching livies and finding the king, heading to west head i saw some surface action so stopped to spin for a while. Second cast hooked and dropped a dark looking salmon, then caught a just legal tailor which was kept for a live bait. After wasting sunrise on baby tailor I headed west head as planned, caught bait and watched someone else pull 2 kings, I tried the same but no joy.
Next plan was troll round Lion island, no nuthin. Patonga,no nuthin. No king today. On the way back to brooklyn with the tide running out hard at 20deg C against 18deg elsewhere stopped to look for a jew. A dead squid went in, while preparing a livie the squid goes off, 66cm jew #1 for the season. A short time later jew #2 50cm caught and released.
With dinner in the esky the day was called before arvo traffic kicks in. Last stop saves the day again.
