  1. if you come across a bait ball on the shelf fish it until you have to go home
  2. down south they have hooked and landed big southern bluefin tuna around bait boils with seals in attendence. you should have trolled a little bit longer it might have paid off. Yeah sure blue eye and gem fish are good eating buuuuuttttt come on blue fin sashimi tuna in the 80kg+ range will feed alongside seals without a blink of the eye yeah sure seals might steal kingys but not a 100kg bluefin
  3. There was a seal in Bondi bay last week smashing up the salmon. Funnily enough the salmon weren't very hungy to eat any lures I was throwing at them.

    Kingy Gear

How does this sound for a kingy set up? Don't realy want alternatives suggested just comments about this deal. OKUMA TITUS TG 30 (second hand) spooled with 36keg Braid SHIMANO BACKBONE 24keg Rod (new) $360 for the lot Thanks in advance Fishbog
  5. smallest thing I've caught recently
  6. I’m sure 1 or 2 members have watched “TVS Adventure bound” Fishing for kings off jervis bay. The host (RIP) tried to softly drag the fish away from structure every time he got a hookup. Sometimes it worked but when the big kingies moved in he got smashed time and again. Some days it just depends on “the fish gods” whether or not you go home empty handed. maybe your current line is below par Get new fishing line. if you like mono stick with it 60lb should do the trick uv rays deteriorate it so keep it away from sunlight when not in use. braid and 20kg of drag will stop some fish but maybe you’ll pull the hooks a few more times as well. This is why we all love fishing for the masked bandits. They require some finesse sometimes and strength of a giant others
  7. I call “shenanigans”. Maybe just maybe the tarwine was interested in the lure while you were doing the lift and drop retrieve and got jag hooked in the back but I don’t think he was trying to eat it! More likely looking for some food stirred up when the lure hit the sand. It is a cracker of a fish but not a legit record from my view. In the states big bass comps when jigging a lure for fish they have to prove the fish was hooked in the mouth. Noting the anglers have cameras in each boat covering the action for TV anyway the angler normally shows the fish right up close to the camera. And the poor old blackie! Well he was just innocently swimming around looking for a bit of weed and probably a root with 50 of his mates like they do at this time of the year. You’re doing a high speed retrieve for taylor and he was unlucky to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time. So I’m calling “SHENANIGANS”
  8. Ben Buckler is the name for the north headland of Bondi beach. The reef where all the charter boats fish off North head could be called "whale" Thats what it was called on the boat ("Halicat") I worked on years ago.

    Knots

I saw a knot called the GT the other day. I haven’t tried it myself yet but if it is used on big bruising Giant Trevally it must be all right. I’m even thinking of using it on my bream/whiting gear.
  10. Smiths jigs are old school trolling lures like these.
  11. Bet a dollar you got a frigate not a mac-tuna
