  1. Hi guys and girls Me, a friend, his brother and dad made the pilgrimage up to the entrance on sunday for a bit of a flic and some bait soaking. We went to try and replicate the success i had nearly 10 months ago where i got my PB flat head 65cm and countless others in the 40 - 50cm range. However, my favourite channel has been filled in the sand. Very sad! Unfortunately the giant flathead gods conspired against us. We managed between us 8 - 40 cm flathead and quite a few dropped and missed hook ups all day. In addition to this, we also caught a couple of smallish whitting. Interestingly all the flathead were male. - Maybe hanging around a larger female that wasn't taking any placcies ?? Does any one know why there are so many small flathead in the entrance at the moment? Has anyone else had any success in the entrance aswell? Cheers, Chris
  2. Is it safe to eat fish from that area? I live near by and never fish there because i thought it wasn't safe. Cheers, Chris
  3. No can do tadpole. Got language classes. maybe another day? I need to get a new sp rod.. My dad snapped the tip off it accidently Got any ideas on what i should get somewhere in the 2 - 6 kg rod range
  4. Hi guys, I mate of mine lives up at foster by the lake and given that me and another mate are simultaneously changing jobs, we thought we would take the time off and go for a fishing charter. Any advice who would be suitable/ what would be suitable for fishos of varied experience. Cheers, Chris
  5. I had a revelation last night on salmon. Cooked a thai yellow curry for sunday lunch Put my salmon in it ( Caught on narraben beach last friday), making sure that the pieces were cut up small enough to not get a massive wack o fish. It tasted great. The curry over powered the salmon taste and i was left with a soft delicate piece of fish and a great curry. - You sould all try it
  6. Hi guys, I was up the northern end of the beach just near the lake entrance last night. Was having a little kip when all of a sudden inearly get pulled out of my seat!!!! Thank god it was the rod with good line on it, the other rod i had was spooled with 4lb line. First the fish took off out to sea with the reel singing, and then the fish ran straight back in and effectively beached itself, ending up with a 65 - 70cm salmon. I was pretty stoked with that. PB as well Looked like it had been eating some slimies. I only had one other hit whilst chatting to one of the other blokes right near by. The reel sang and then everything went light. Missed it oh well Still a tops night Cheers, Chris
  7. Cheers Hiles, I know the area you were talking about. Thought you meant north narrabeen beach; just around from the pool. Might see you out one night. Anyway Cheers,
  8. Hi guys, Just curious, which part of the beach were you on. I as taking a look at it today around 2:00pm, and it looked relatively featureless. Ie no discernable gutters. Maybe this is just me being an amateur though - Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by popper? I know of popping lures, cup faced front splashing water, but i am not sure if this is what you are referring to. It would seem odd to "spin" a popper with ganged pilchards. Anyway, Any help would be great. Cheers, Chris
  9. Been spending away mate? What should be our next fishing destination? Somewhere down south one weekend? Maybe a camp and fish would be good. Any ideas?
  10. Thanx for the advice roberta, perhaps we will see you on the water.
  11. Hi buddy, i have seen the mystical flying flathead quite alot. When it is a bit warmer and everything seems to be feeding well, narrabeen lakes large flying flathead can be seen pretty regularly. One i saw was around the 60cm mark aswell.. Pretty weird to watch, but more so annoying because invariably you aren't catching any fish at he same time.
  12. You better be!!! at the moment it looks like i won't have a fishing buddy. No one else is willing to fish, only catch!
  13. Hi guys, I am heading up to foster next weekend for abit of a house warming. My mate has just moved up there to work on the bulladelah by pass. Does anyone know whether i could hire some kind of water transport to do some fishing from? Also some advice on where are the good area would be great; Typically i would be using sps and small lures. Cheers, Chris
  14. Just using sps. Although i suppose winter isn't the best for sps
