    Garfish

Hi all How do you de-bone and prepare Garfish to eat???? any info would be greatly appreciated
  2. Yea mate its gets to packed with people these days with hooks flying everywhere its a nightmare. I been fishing off there for 10 to 15years on and off it aint what it used to be.Its the Avoca of the south, full of tangled lines and rubbish with no respect shown by anglers
  3. Yea mate its heaps better during winter as only the serious fisho's fish there. I aint been there for months as 1 saturday afternoon some low life fool smashed both of me front side windows and cost me a fortune.
  4. Hi mate What time do the gates open and shut now??? I heard they changed the times again
  5. These over cast rainy murky water days bring the fish on. Put away ya hand bag and invest in some good wet weather gear I love it bring on more rain and wind
  6. Its a Wirrah There good eatin they taste like Chicken
  7. Ive never salted yellow tail fillets before but its worth a go to see how they come out. Yellow tail are better off frozen whole with no salt they come up pretty good defrosted
  8. Hi all I do a fair bit off LBG fishing with big live baits ie: bonito and salmon during Spring, Summer and Autum and this season starting very soon i was thinking off using a whine - on leader around the 200lb mark which ive never used before and some some questions to ask. 1st question is how long do they last being used??? like do they last 1 fishin trip only then you replace it??? or do they last like 5 or more trips??? or do they last for months???. Has any1 had much experince in the amount of time they last berfore they deteriorate as long as i dont scratch or scuff them up on the rocks or reef??? And my 2nd question is what is the best way to finish off my double plaite knot to attach my whine - on leader too??? or is there another knot used to loop the whine - on to my main fishin line???
  9. is snapper point rocks in the mumoarah state park? and doesnt it have gates locking you out of the area to sun up??? or am i talkin about the wrong snapper piont im just curious
  10. there are plenty of blackfish of the ocean rocks ive been catching my bag limit every trip since easter
  11. its all snaggy around there and the water is too shallow you might get lucky but your better of Tryin Bare island just up the road there are heaps of squid and leather jackets there at the moment but just watch the swell it can get danergous at times and its slippery too
  12. I caught a bull shark about a meter and half long i didnt weigh it while fishing for jewfish 1 night at lansvale behind the soccer club about 7 - 8 years ago
  13. the stradic 4000 is worth around $230 to $270 buy its self so it really depends on what the rod is worth and how it feels in your hand mate
  14. Yea ive fished off woy woy baths its a easy safe spot to fish. There are alot of blackfish off the baths and if there not biting there try the ferry wharf in corner next to the main road. To fish woy woy baths you actually fish the back side of the net (the inside of the baths) and drift it under the pier into the shadows just watch the locals do it. Fish with a light trace
  15. Go to Port Stephens and fish of Tomaree head land its just past Fingel bay its a great place to live bait from
  16. ive fished off Catherine hill bay heaps of times its a good fishin spot for LBG and bottom fishing. There are 2 bays which you fish on the southern side of Catho its a bit hard to explain how to get to the spots but once shown its easy PM me if you wana orginise a trip up there. The northern side rocks of catho is shallower and is more suited to blackfish, drummer, bream and trevalley fishin but they do get the odd king over there too
  17. Well done to the misses mate Did the jewie get caught on the wire rig or was she usin mono to the hook?????
  18. Soliders Beach is just south of Norah head and its a good beach to fish off for all species or even the small beach next to Norah head boat ramp is good for bream and trevally at night
  19. I fish for snapper off the rocks and i use self caught frozen squid for bait. I just pull of the heads, guts and wings and put them in a freezer bag and i find when i use it for bait the ink stained and bits of guts hanging of the cut squid bait works the best they get the quickest bites after casting it in the clean white squid bait bits take longer to get bites. Personally I find the squid bait works better when its been sitting in the sun all day going a bit pinkish stewing in all the ink and guts it always seems to get me the bigger fish off the day

    My New Boat

    congralutions mate
  21. squeeze as much water out of it as you possibality can. then spread it over a sheet of newspaper thinly, sprinkle some dry sand over the top of it and keep it in a cool shady spot like ya garage. it can last anywhere from a week too about 3 weeks keeped this way depending on humidty But it takes some trail and error to you perfect it as how much water you squeeze out of it and how much sand you add
  22. Go the Salist you cant go wrong with it. Maybe the 4500 size might be better as its a bit lighter on ya arms holding it all day. It holds less line then the 6500 but has enough line capacity for rock fishing
  23. Nice set up Brett that outfit will turn the head of nearly any size shark
