  1. where you using a gopro to film your video and if so what version where you using?

    Hey Flattyfisher

I want a gopro for sure , but i am currently using a small 10m waterproof camera i got from Target of all places last year ,it does the job pretty well and only cost $67 , it takes a micro SD card and has it's own mounting attachment which fits perfectly on all my rails around the boat.I use the imovie program on my sons imac pro to do all my movies ,you just drop all the clips into the movie trailers in the program and it pretty much looks professional macs are great for this stuff

  2. Last Friday's session on Botany Bay was unusually quiet , the northerly was screaming across the bay and made it pretty difficult to get amongst it.My plastics were getting the ol corn cob treatment by something and i reckon i went through 10 - 12 4" Gulp worms until i finally landed this 50cm + Flatty my youtube link tells the story of what transpired of how you must keep a good grip on these buggers

  4. My reports seem to be all about Trevally , but i just love catching these things they just go so hard on light gear, got out again last Friday and managed 6 keepers 38cm and up best was 40cm , as well as 1 Bream 30cm which i released. The cloud cover was just perfect and the wind didn't scare them off at all .check out my dodgey video filmed on my phone which i tied to my tackle box the angle wasn't the best but i did get 3 hook ups recorded.Hopefully Santa will bring me a " GO PRO " camera so i can get some better footage.Cheers Mark

    Hi,

Does anyone know a Aluminium Boat Welder or that can do Alloy mods.

The guys I used at Taren Point were instrumental in getting my 5.25mtr bowrider back into shape after the hull had sustained extensive cracks along just about every weld seam .The initial problem was poor manufacturer welding which was thin and tapered it was at these tapered points the cracks appeared , the bracing ribs under the floor had broken away from the frame ,centre keel and outer chines .I was taking in about 2 garbos full of water every hour , my bilge pump was working overtime.I am taking it out on Botany Bay this Friday after lunch for it's 1st sea trials after the repair, can't wait to wet some plastics.Pm me for details.

  7. Nice catch mate, might have to pay Toongabbie Creek a visit.

not sure if i would make a fish stock as suggested in this forum out of a Toony 3 eyed carp , but i have seen some big ones around the back of the Baxter factory on Oaks rd that would probably give a hell of a fight, good luck anyway :1fishing1:

  8. Good work mate how good are friday arvos on the bay :biggrin2:

I was out there too but more towards towra and pretty much did the same as you but also landed a nice 36cm whiting but no bream :(

Are there many pike near the goynes atm? im getting 10 every session :ranting2:

    Cheers

    Pete

not the past few weeks , got a small one a little while ago the stinkin things they are droppin their dodgey scales everywhere in my boat

  9. Out again today from 1.30pm - 4.30pm on Botany Bay doing my usual Friday Arvo plastics session over near the Kurnell Groynes,it was overcast a nice 10-15knt wind it was just perfect conditions for throwing my Gulps over the weed beds .It was only my 2nd cast and i was on , a nice 38cm specimen to start proceedings then over the next 3hrs drifting over the same 200mtr patch i managed to nearly bag out on Trevally ( 18 ) with my best one going 41cm + a nice little 34cm bream which i released back at the ramp much to the Bream's surprise :1yikes: .The Trevally are definately coming back a strong as ever over the past 4 weeks or so that i have been out and the tides don't seem to be making that much of a difference.Again i am going to defend the good ol Trevally and i'm sure they get cheesed off that they fetch only $10 kilo but they taste great freshly filleted and fried or baked with some lemon , salt n pepper  I am finding it very hard to go searching for a different fish to catch because these things are just so much fun to catch on light gear and will out do a Bream any day.4 families in Seven hills will be feasting on Trevally tomorrow :1fishing1: .Yes Jimmy i did keep one for you for bait :tease:

  10. It's the only way i fish on most of my trips now, soft plastics are great on so many species from flathead , trevally ,bream right through to kingies. The best setup is always fish as light as the condition will allow. So for the lakes and shallow bay waters ( 2-4mtrs ) a good soft plastcs rod 7'2" long and 2500 reel ( my shimano/catana combo was only $99 )this typical setup is crucial I have found ,to catching and not catching fish. Before my mate Pete got hold of me and steered me in the right direction i was using a slightly thicker butt rod similar in length to my current plastics rod but it just didn't feel the same as it was a little too heavy.I have my reel loaded with 6lb braid and use 2mtrs of 6lb japanese flourocarbon leader ( $25 for approx 70mtrs ).I mainly use Gulp 4" worms as they have the little tail that works well when retrieved at low and high speeds , some good flavours like watermelon and pumpkinseed are my favourites and i always use strong owner jig heads ( lighter the better ),check out my brother in law "big Kev" from Tuncurry catching his 1st Trevally in Botany Bay using a similar setup as described here .Good Luck champ

  11. Took particular note of the weather report today and for once they were spot on fine till midday then 25-30kt SE in the afternoon, so as i usually do on Friday arvo's i take the boat into work in the morning finish up around 12.30pm and on the water by 1.30pm.Leaving Kyeemagh ramp there was absolutely no wind and it was like glass on the bay, so i was flat chat out to my spot over the weed beds near the Kurnell ramp.It was only my second cast and i was on for my 1st trevally for the day of around 35cm , i did around 4 drifts of around 20 mins each from the ramp up to the oil wharf and nearly bagged out with 16 nice Trevally averaging around the 35cm mark lost 4 at the boat .A pretty hot little session until the wind hit with such force i don't think iv'e seen in the 30 years iv'e been fishing Botany.I started to head back in pointing my 5.25m bowrider towards the cooks river entrance , i was at the start of the 1st runway when i noticed a nice big 6.5m Bayliner anchored and bobbing up and down in the big swell , the skipper waved me over and said he had a flat battery and was waiting for help from the coastal patrol. He was a little worried as he had his pregnant wife on board who didn't look real happy :1badmood: , i stayed with them for a for a short while until the Police launch arrived to help them out.Good lesson here for young players before you head out check everything even in closed waters like Botany it can get ugly real quick.Check out my dodgey phone video of my trip back to the ramp good fun woo hoo.

  12. Mate anywhere over the weed beds near the oil wharf in around 3-4mtrs on gulp 4"watermelon worm soft plastics will produce trevally and bream ,even got a 67cm Kingy one day what a fight on 6lb braid that was you just need a little breeze and thats about it , i haven't had bait or burley in my boat for 18mths now and get fish on every outing in Botany.Good luck :1fishing1:

  13. G'day Raiders

Took 2 of my sons out on the bay this morning for another intro into soft plastics ,we weren't out there long before we landed two 27cm brim both sent back into the drink, got another nice 34cm which we kept and a 40cm trevally. But the best was yet to come and a PB for me was a monster 73cm Flathead caught on 6lb braid with a 2mtr 6lb fluorocarbon leader, wasn't a bad fight but i still reckon a good 45cm+ trevally goes harder, anyway i was still rapt .We were fishing along the groynes near the boat ramp in about 2mtrs of water all in all a good morning.
