  1. There are easier places to fish than the Rip. Its too deep and the run is too fast. Its 100ft -> 10ft under the bridge -> 100ft on the other side. If you want to fish there fish in the bay's on the Eastern side of the bridge, or in near Orange Grove. Jew are very lazy fish, they will avoid fast running current. I personally think there are better places, find a good hole in shallower water, or find the bait (mullet/tailor in the back channels or squid on the edge of weed beds).
  2. Both are spangled emperor. Great eating fish
  3. Sarge, That's not a red mowie, it's a spangled emperor. Your a lucky man ! They're a warm water species that's prolific on the Barrier Reef/Coral Sea. There have been increasing sightings around the harbour in recent years. Cheers
  4. FWIW I ran into a Fisheries officer at the Bayview ramp a little while back. He was collecting catch data (type, quantity, size, capture location etc), he mentioned that overall recreational catches in the Hawkesbury were poor, particularly jewies.
  5. I have had exactly the same experiences as Mondo, anywhere from Half Tide Rocks to Paddy's Channel, following bait or a soft plastic.
  6. I'm not feeling the love Fresh, not one pic of me with a fish. Although you did manage to fit my boardies into one photo
