  1. Is anyone able to give me a decent set of coordinates for the southern canyons? Leaving from Botany Bay I'll be on 21 "serenity now" more than happy to share intel throughout the day.
  2. I'll be out Tomorrow. Even if it's for a zero it's still a nice day out on the water. If everyone sits at home waiting for everyone else to catch a fish first the season may never start. Gotta be in it to win it boys. I'll be on 21 "serenity now" more than happy to share Info if I find fish.
  3. Hey girls/guys, My mates and I have managed (been given permission) to have 8 days fishing in mid October. We are mainly into offshore fishing but having some good fishing inside is good if the weather does not play ball. Where on the east cost of Australia fishes best this time of year? I am happy to drive North or South preferably no more than 8 hrs. We are based in Sydney. Looking forward to hearing some of your ideas and suggestions. Thanks in advance. Alex
  4. We fished Sunday out of Botany Bay for a black and a stripe.. All in 30 - 60 fathoms.. Both took a dark purple lure from the short rigger.. Heaps of dollies free jumping everywhere but seemed to only take smaller lures.. It was a ripper day apart from the rain and sloppy conditions!
  5. Scratchie, Can I push my luck and ask for that PM also? Spending 10 days in Anna bay and launching at Soldiers point. Would love to target some kings on the jig/live baits. I have Kingie fever at the moment. Thanks. Alex
  6. Ill be out tomorrow too, 12 mile early hopefully for a king of two then to browns for these tuna!! Ill be in 21 "serenity now" give me a holla, ill shout out if I come across some fish. Fingers crossed! Good luck!
  7. Ill be headed out to browns late morning for a troll. Ill be on 21 "serenity now"
  8. I was fishing the FAD yesterday morning, when we arrived there were about 6 other boat out there drifting. We started to set up and a mate threw a 120gram jig in the water, as the jig came to the surface we had a Marlin free jump not 5 metres from the back of the boat, incredible! Not sure if he was chasing the jig but was absolutely awesome to see! In all the excitement we decided to put a spread of lures out and troll the FAD then across to the peak. Unfortunately for a big fat ZERO. Mother nature sure put a show on for us too.
  9. Your car could easily tow more than 1600kg but you an not insured if you do. I recently went through this Dilemma but had purchased the boat (Haines Hunter 650R) before I realised what my vehicle could tow. I was driving a Holden SS ute and made the assumption a 5.8 litre V8 could tow anything, the car can tow the boat no problems but there was no way I was going to be driving around town uninsured. Insurance companies would be so quick to get out of a claim if they found out you were towing more than legally allowed to. In regards to your boat I was originally looking at the Haines Hunter 585 and evolution 550/552. Go with the Haines! Far superior boat. Hope this helps with your decisions.
  10. The Bar Crusher is very basic in terms of luxuries. The bar crusher will have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke whilst the Evolution will have a 225 Yanaha 4 stroke. The evolution to me is the nicer boat but I am worried about maintenance, I am not sure what is involved. Aluminum needs a good wash with water after a day out but apparently glass is not so simple?! There is a $15,000 difference in price but the evolution is a bigger boat with a whole lot more to offer. I guess my biggest concern is longevity and any issues associated with aluminum / fiberglass. Huey, thanks for your response. What other boat/s should a throw in the mix as I am open to other options.. I want the right boat that is safe and will last me a lifetime with proper care
  11. Hi guys/girls, I am looking at one of two boats an Evolution 600 extreme(fibreglass) and the Bar Crusher 670HT(Aluminium). Has anyone owned any of these boats and could give me any suggestions? I suppose my biggest question is maintenance, which will be easiest to maintain and the longest lasting? I understand the Bar Crusher being lighter will be easier to tow and will require a smaller outbard at the back thus saving fuel. So I will leave it up to you, let the battle begin Thanks heaps for any advise give! Hope it will make my decision easier. Alex
  12. Thanks Tom, I have decided to go a Shimano Twin power 10000 and still tossing up on 50lb and 80lb.. Murphys law says I will make the wrong choice haha. I second what Cungee George said, in the video when you asked if you could keep the King he said something that you couldn't quite make out.
  13. Awesome report mate! Has got me pumped, I'm booked in for a trip with the same operator in Sept! Did you take your own gear? Taruanga here we come!
  14. Sunday after lunchtime we also got covered in this strange spirder web and little black spiders, If anyone can exlpain as to what has casued this, I would be very interested to know. Sunday afternoon produced heaps of Bonito up to 60cm at North and South head, unfortunately no kings for us! A few undersized snapper biggest going 28cm caught at Long reef Sunday morning. I was finding water ranging all the way from about 15.8 - 17.5.. Finin what did you catch the Kings on?
  15. Rose Bay Wharf has never failed me, Touch wood. Little bit of burley gets them into a feeding frenzy. I tend not to use a sinker just a tiny bit of pilchard on a very small hook left to slowly sink, usually catch about 15 in as many mintues. Good luck.
