  1. That's really interesting that you caught those fish in MH. The water temp in the harbour wouldn't be constant enough to keep a sustainable habitat for those species.... You should definitely send pics and info to the fisheries or DII... Cool catch though
  2. That's incredible! Well don't mate!
  3. I now know what you mean about scary. I got caught travelling back from the inlet back to manering park yesterday and it was blowing something serious.... I have never seen so much whitecaps whithin a closed estuary. To add to the smashing around in the boat due to the chop, we saw some serious size shark fins sticking out of the water ( just around the south eastern side of the island)....i agree, Lake Macquarie can flare up pretty seriousley. Caught two flatties on poddies, but really no other action for thevday....just curious to see if anyone wlse was having any luck in the lake?
  4. Hey Mack, yeah I was up there last week over Christmas and new year and battled every single day to get onto the water... The wind was unpredictable. Over about 5 days on the water it produced a 65cm flattie which was caught in the down towards the creeks.... And about 20+ sharks! That was so annoying! From shovel nose, bangoes and wobbigongs! Fishing was a little dissapointing, but always great to get out on the water!
  5. I caught one just off the break wall at Kurnell as a kid, about 15 years back. I still remember it as if it was yesterday, I just had the hook on the surface of the water and I turned around to grab a new piece of prawn. The hook had just some remains of prawn shell, and suddenly wam, I saw my rod bending like no tomorrow. When I brought it up it was one of the most ugliest looking things, I don't know if it was mutated or something, but it was off-white in colour. I don't think there are common catch, but they are definetley around.
  6. That's a really good catch, well done guys. Did you guys use bait or lures?
