  1. Set out to mouth of LCR to flick some SPs - tide not great, wind not playing the game either...but plenty of tailor chasing bait. Went for the fun option and threw metal slugs for an hour, landed a dozen from 35 to 45 - great fun! How has LCR been re: Jewish on plastics? Have been concentrating more in the hawkesbury, but keen to re-explore LCR - lived there back in 05-07, worked the fig tree bridge mainly. Any updates wld be great Nice morning pic
  2. Fished Berowra from calabash bay to oaky point, 3 keeper flatties all on 70m pro fish Wanted to crack open the 2012 mulloway account...next time!!! Any more Berowra reports wld be brilliant, my new home waterway! Happy new years to all, 2012 fishing resolutions: 100cm Jew on plastic 90cm flattie on plastic
  3. matt, we spent the recent long weekend up there, first time i had fished it. we got a few up to 47cm on the southern side of pulbah island, we were using the 5in berkley jerk shads.
  4. Rushed decision to fly up to Lake Macqaurie for the long weekend was worth it. First time i have fished it, on Saturday morning we fished the western / south western side of Pulbah Island with good results - we landed approximately 10 flathead to about 48cm, plenty of aggressive flounders - landed a flounder that was not even hooked, it was sucking the end of a 5' berkley jerk bait and only let go when in the boat! Drifted the channel, dodging plenty of boats for 2 more flatties. On Sunday morning we stayed in the bays off catalina park and fishing point chasing around salmon schools. we hooked about half a dozen, landed 3 to about 60 cm using tiny metal slices i had at the bottom of the bag! great fun on light gear! i really like the Lake, close to home (sydney), plenty of options, and with the weather as bad as it was still able to produce some fish! what is the bream spinning like in the lake? we are going to head back up again in a few weeks, any reports would be great...thanks.
  5. Raiders, we are off to Lake Macquarie on Friday for a few days, staying at Pelican so close to the channel. I have my tinny and the electric ready to go - now, where do i start...any feedback wld be appreciated. My initial plan was to fish the bridge and channel, then get out to the west side of pullbah island - mainly flicking for flatties. any more thoughts would be awesome...thanks
  6. Went for a quick session on Saturday at Berowra, in awful weather! We ended up with 2 flattie, 2 chopper tailor, and a bream - all on squidgy fish & atomic jerkbaits. The flattie's were like pulling in plastic bags, bring on spring and a bit more fight!
  7. Hit the prominent points by dawn on saturday hoping to tangle with a nice jew on lure - full moon the night before, decent tide, expectations were high as last time (4 weeks ago) similar conditions produced a nice 90cm model. Casted 100mm Squidgy Fish until the water was a froth. Got one decent bump and run for a few seconds but no hook up. Overall fished Oaky, Collingridge, and Cunio Points to 10am, with a couple of flathead to show - the best went 52cm. Brilliant morning though, water was slow and still looks very likely to produce. As they say, patience and persistence - i will have another crack next weekend on the AM low tide. Any other news on lured jews in Berowra?
  8. the jig heads are squidgy fishhead (pink) 14g (1/2 ou) I am the bloke in the QLD jersey - my regular fishing apparel, and to be honest the only clothes i have worn since we smashed the blues 30-0...UP THE MAROONS!!! 2-1 sounds nice...hey blues boys!!! Tight lines and plenty of tries for Inglis!
  9. Fished coba point with my brother from queensland up to the high tide on friday mornig for no result but persisted and was rewarded today with a 90cm jew, 40cm bream, and 2 flattys. We used sguidgy fish 100mm soft plastics on all fish, love it when a plan comes together.
  10. As per most fishos, i was out this morning for a couple of hours. Landed this 77cm kingie using 6in white slugo. We saw a few more but could not get them interested - we were only using stickbaits. Brilliant morning for it!!!
  11. I was using 1/16 and 1/8, when the wind picked up a bit
  12. I was fishing closer to the mouth, have not even been to the weir on the LCR - I have heard it fishes well both salt /fresh
  13. Got on the river at 7am (nice late start), and worked some moored boats in the river with 2in Berkley Shrimps when came up tight to a very solid bream (39cm) - my PB. Landed 2 more little bream, a chopper tailor and 2 undersize flattie before wind became a nuisance. All were on the shrimps in new penny colour.
  14. Fished Lostock Dam last weekend for the 1st time. Landed 5 bass in total from 29cm to 44cm - they were all in great nick and fat!! The 2 biggest were caught casting bibless minnows to the front of weed edges, the 3 from 29cm to 35cm were all cught trolling.
  15. Took a couple of days leave to fish the Clyde River and Lakes around Ulladulla for the first time and I was not dissapointed. 1st morning was on the Clyde and picked up 2 nice bream on surface poppers (River2Sea 45 bubble pops) around the racks. Here is the longest - 29cm. 2nd morning was on Lake Conjola and picked up my PB flathead of 70cm. I was stoked because it was a by-catch while chasing bream. I was using 6lb pink fireline, 8lb vanish fluro, and 2in berkley grub in pumpkinseed - over the moon with this model. I will definitely be back to the south coast! Love this website!!!!!
  16. I am based in Baulkham Hills
  17. Hi Raiders, I am upgrading the tinny (Ally Craft - 4.1 Shadow Legend) and will be putting on a bow mount. Has anyone done this and are you happy with results or does anyone know reputable people to aluminium weld one on? I have had a quote already but keen to see other peoples experiences. Any ideas would be great thanks.
  18. Had a quick flick on saturday morning from bottom of the tide and landed my PB flattie at Fig Tree on a 100m squidgy shad in silver fox - 54cm. Had 2 more decent hits without hooking up, pulled up stumps as all the rowers were out, wind got up and I was a bit dusty from the night before.
  19. the white rmg was a prototype being used by the guide at the time (he gave it to us at the end of the 2 days) - anything that was white brained them that weekend
  20. not as expensive as you think: flights from sydney to mackay and brissy to mackay were around 300 (my brother lives in noosa and i am down here) hire car from mackay back to mackay for 4 days 250 (cheaper to fly to mackay then direct to proserpine) accomodation was 210 for 3 nights - referral from lyndsay dobe fishing is 350 a day for the boat, up to 3 ppl - 700 works out to be approx 750 a head for 4 days and 2 days fishing plus spending cash (XXXX and food) we were using daiwa cvx 300a and i was using an ian miller raider barra magnum, 30lb fireline in green and double 60lb leader. most of the big fish were in bays and open water, plenty of smaller barra in the trees - we sussed it out before we went and went a bit lighter - never had a line/leader break, hooks pulled/straightened - we were bloody lucky!! we are using barra classics, predatek vipers, halco rmg's and most were in white or gold - good feeling to use all your own gear and get a win!! the bills bug fizzers are brilliant - 2nd morning session i will never forget - literally my first cast, 2 flicks and whoosh!!! a metre plus impoudment barra - let me tell you they pull as hard or harder than any saltwater barra i have caught and are just bloody bigger!!! it is on a DVD, the fishing DVD vol. 2 - lyndsay is on it - www.fishingdvd.com.au here is lyndsay's website - www.barramundicharters.com.au we have already booked in for another trip late this year
  21. Just got back from 2 days at Peter Faust, out with local guide Lyndsay Dobe - bloody legend, and it was brilliant!! My brother and I landed 15 barra in 2 days and 7 were a metre plus, also got 2 good sooty grunters. The biggest went 117cm and over 50lb, and the surface session we had on the 2nd day was truly unbelievable. I was using Bills Bugs and boated 5 before 7:45am, 2 over a metre, 2 in the high 80's and a 68 model - poor borther didnt get a hit - they are absolutely spectacular on surface lures..I will definitely be going back. Here are some pics.
  22. I got smashed up a week back on my light sp gear at fig tree, it felt like a jewie's run - long and big pulls. Has anyone ever caught jewies around fig tree / lane cove river before? If so, what has been the technique - sp's or bait. I heard one fisho saying they have caught them around greenwich point before. I know they are at gladesville bridge...any help would be great, because if they are there I will be chasing them!!
  23. What a relief...the weather is brilliant!! Got to the ramp at 4:45 and went straight up to Sugarloaf for a look, not much on the surface, decided to troll some sluggo's and a rapala cd-9. 2nd pass on the northern point of the bay I was on!!! It was a nice 60cm Kingie (on a white 6in sluggo) and tested my light gear, my mate had that many rats trying to climb onto his sluggo but just could not hook up - bit of a laugh!! It was a short trip and back in by 8:00. Had another good run and a tailor take the bum off my sluggo. Dean Hayes was out and had one of his clients get on at the same school as the one we got ours - other than that there was no boat traffic. Great morning! Tight lines!
  24. Thanks for the info Jeff - I hope to see you down there some time
  25. I have been using them for a couple of weeks now and they are great on flatties, i reckon they would be great on bream with the finesse resin heads - they have minimal action compared to the wrigglers/shads. At Fig Tree they have been the sp of choice
