hey stevo im just about to invest in one of these units myself have you resolved the issue? what transducer do you have fitted? the 1kw? i think it is meant to be able to do 500m+ if not i might have to re-think my choice. let us know how you go mate

Scotty is a Canadian brand not Aussie. As far as which is best your either a Scotty or Cannon man. They are both good just like fords and holdens. 7lb weights are more than enough for the harbour. My bad mate to many last night

hey mate i invested in a cannon DR with 10# weight does the job for me, when i get a chance to use it that is ultimately still learning to use it. other good brand is scotty which is an aussie brand also a good D/R. have a look at the site sponsors as a first option but online shopping is hard to beat sometimes

well looks like im off to the tackle shop to invest some more hard earned$$$$ are these sold in most tackle shops or are they relativley new?

Most probably are mate i'd say the law has changed somewhere along the lines and there are still the old trailers getting around or maybe the dealer is to cheap to fit them

i dissagree with the young people comment though, i have a C/C and fish the batemans area some times. i know what you mean about the ice on the windscreeen but i launch the boat and have to push it over the ice to get it into the water, then traipse back across the ice get into the car park the car walk all the way back threw 5' of snow over then back over ice to get into the boat and then go out fishing and still catch nothing hehe you old guys got it easy IMO now where are these gas fired heating explosion devices sold

Hi all just a couple of questions, i have a Lowrance LMS 525 cdf GPS/Sounder. it has been playing up a fair bit latley e.g. not loading the navionics sd card, switching on and off randomly(had the same problem earlier but rectified it by cleaning all the power connections. i tried that again and it made no improvment) and doesnt really work when i am on the move at any speed above 4 knts. so my questions are 1. has anyone had similar problems and overcome them? 2. if i upgrade the "head unit" to a lowrance hds or elite 5 will i be able use the current power and NMEA wiring that is plugged in to the current unit for the new unit???? any help or suggestions will be much appreciated Cheers

hey mate sounds like you have got the squid sorted. im still struggling myself. I pick up a couple of small ones now and then but not really enough for a feed or kingie bait. but it beats working and half the fun is getting out there and giving it a go, the other is the half is at the end of the day trying to figure out where it all went wrong or right well done mate
