Depends where.... Hawkesbury nothing but 50lb for me, the harbour on the other hand, 20 is fine. Really it's fish size, harbour will be pushing 10kg max, Hawkesbury, we still get done over from time to time on 50!

I used to live nearby and did a lot of night fishing. I used to use 20-30lb mono. But after some regulars told me that their 50lb mono leaders were bitten off (and I was present for one of those occasions), I switched to 32lb wire leader. If you are using squids, I certainly recommend that [i am no expert, just from local experience].
