  1. Thanks for that searabbit. They're all sensational images. Does your work have anything to do with photography or are you just a talented amateur? Also, what camera and editing software do you use?

    Cheers

    Peter

Thanks for your comments on my images Peter and everybody else as well, its always nice when i get good feedback from my photography guys. Im a amateur at the moment Peter, working on my own website, attempting to brake into the panorama landscape market, sold just a handful so far. at the moment i use a canon 30d & have adobe photoshop cs3.

  2. Sensational photos!

    Postcard material!

Were you using a wide angle lens or have you just cropped it?

    Cheers

    Peter

g'day peter, i remember your great shots at swr's, the top pic has been cropped to 9 x 20 inch, but the sunset is a stitched panorama ( 5 frames) 12 x 50 inch. here,s another looking towards mount tongariro. we also got a few trout roberta.post-1424-1220592203_thumb.jpg

  3. Fantastic report Waynie. Loved reading it. The pictures were excellent too. When I was there in January, we weren’t game enough to cross the bar until things settled down so we only managed two trips outside and even then conditions were sloppy. I was really hoping for a cobia when I was there but had no luck. Where and how did you get the cobia? Were you trolling? I’d love to get one when I’m back in SWR next January.

    Cheers and thanks

    Peter

    g'day peter

yeah we were trolling with 3 baits up top & 1 on the downrigger. waynes cobia hit the downrigger & mine hit a surface bait. we kept trolling to try & tempt a marlin for waynie & to cover more ground & find bait, as it was scarce, but if your just after cobe a lot of boats anchor or drift with their livies down deep on lead.

  4. just a few pics from fri hawkesbury bash in serch of jew & hairtail with kiwi waynie. fished the start of the run out for jewies & got a couple of sml ones that will be a lot bigger next time we catch em hopefully. got to our hairtail spot about 430 with 3 other boats already there. came on the bite just before dark but not as aggressive or big as last fri, that means plenty of small fish to be thrown back guys for future fishing.

  5. :1happybday: both of you!

I must admit searabitt, I woke up sunday morning and rolled over to see your snoring head on the floor next to my bed on the houseboat ......scared the CRAP outta me! How does your Mrs do it every morning?

im glad i could pay you back fishy, it took me ages to get to sleep with your snoring head above mine, thanks for the birthday wishes everyone.

  6. knocked off work at 11am and hit the hawkesbury by 1pm armed with fresh squid. russell and myself went right to the road bridge for our 1st fish since the previous weeks rains had eased off. high tide & the water looked as if it were the end of the run out. but the jewies were there, plus bream, flathead & a couple of big rays as well.post-1424-1184061085_thumb.jpgpost-1424-1184061119_thumb.jpg

    post-1424-1184061159_thumb.jpgpost-1424-1184061209_thumb.jpgfinished with 6 jewies, 3 bream, 2 flathead, 2 rays & a few eels of course. kept 2 jews that were over 60cm .

  7. kiwi waynie & myself started the hairtail social off by targeting a jew like a few other raiders. tried flint n steel for zippo before heading to the road bridge where i was more confident of getting waynie hes 1st keeper size jew.

    post-1424-1184058321_thumb.jpg

& he got him, well done mate many more to come, a 48cm jew that was released. finally ended up on our warm houseboat and a chance to bag a hairy. after a beaut feed (thanks marty) we tried our luck but the hairtail didnt play ball for us, but a few beers with nice company made up for the lack of action. this was my 1st social and was good to meet a few of my fello raiders, fishyfingers & nin, kiwi waynie, flightmanager, cath, brett & zenman it was good to spend the night with ya, too bad i had to leave early. my sons team got smashed. hey zenman i will take that offer up on the harbour kings mate, ill be in touch.

  8. thanks for the report inhlanzi :(

i was just about to hook the boat up and fish tonights high tide for that big elusive jewie, i'll just wait another week and watch the mighty rabbits smash manly tonight instead.

  9. the mighty blues wont hand you toads 2 games in a row, thats the only way the toads won the 1st game off blues mistakes. it wont happen again. go you mighty blues

  10. Congrats Corrine & Wayne,

sorry about the late reply mate, i dont check my emails very often, next time send a pm & i'll see it within 2 days. little Bryce, fisherman, footballer, photographer ? i reckon all 3.

    well done mate

  11. post-1424-1179380960_thumb.jpgg'day steve

mate dont stress over the long lens, marlin jump far away and right next to the boat as well, i captured these shots at swr this year on a canon 30d. 10-22mm lens set on sports mode. i think the 400d with the kit lenses will do to start off with. a photo of a jumping marlin 100mtrs away from a rocking boat is going to be hard to get. most of the great marlin pics you see in magazines are taken close to the boat.

  12. g'day hutcho 1

good to see a fello rabbit supporter (your daughter) getting into the fish, go you mighty rabbits.

the first bite off could have been a tailor as i have caught some big ones in brisbane water & the dropped

fish sounds like it could have been a nice jewie seeing as the hook pulled. its hard to pull a hook on

a ray or port jackson. sounds like you had fun with plenty of action well done.

  13. Hahah thanks John ... i got some mor esquid last night and i am keen on hitting the water again hopefully for some jews this time or some monster kings ...

    great catch jewiejoe'

i caught my first beach jew from stanwell park, 5kgs & then got another the same night

so you probably know your in the right spot. good luck & hope the jews play ball for ya.

  14. g,day raiders

just following up on my last swr report for any raiders heading up that way, not as many fish this trip but we managed a few in the 3 days we were there. started with the usual stripped tuna hitting our uzi's & the odd sml fin thrown in as well as we trolled sth from the jail to fish rock & back. after our morning skirt session we hit the jail walking livies with 3 on the surface & 1 on the downrigger, two 4kg black tip reef sharks pounced on the downrigger before my mate dave had the first marlin eating his livie, a short fight later after untangling lines & the little black was having his portrait taken before release.post-1424-1172132154_thumb.jpg

i stuffed up the next marlin strike by waiting too long & the fish felt the hook and was last seen free jumping to the horizon, but i did get a good fish right about knock off when a 13kg yellowfin grabbed my livie off the downriggerpost-1424-1172132533_thumb.jpg

the next day we spent most of it trolling skirts wide of fish rock trying to tempt those wahoo, well after coutless strippies dave got his first wahoo 8kgs & lit up.post-1424-1172132696_thumb.jpg

we hooked another marlin near the jail & dave had the fish under control until its tail broke the double.will be considering wind ons next trip. last day produced more stripies and sml fin on the skirts and daves 2nd wahoo which went 6.5kgs. also got a nice 13kg kingie on 15kg right in the wash at fish rock & one last marlin to finish off with. est at 50kg the marlin put up a great fight for 40min on 24kg before my 150lb trace wore threw, id had enough by then anyhow. going back up on tuesday till sunday so hopefully more fish tales to come.

  15. yeah thanks fellas,

ive been up there plenty of times and missed the action by a few days but this time we planed it perfect, except for dave on spooled again, bad luck you had to leave on the monday mate, i think there was 12 boats off the jail & im sure all of them would have had a hookup.

  16. post-1424-1170560905_thumb.jpgpost-1424-1170560861_thumb.jpgpost-1424-1170560744_thumb.jpgpost-1424-1170560776_thumb.jpga few more pics with more to come

the house mate has had very similar days on the boat up here at byron...nice report mate ..jewfish are a bit like a cab on george street lately , where are they when ya need em.

yeah i would have liked to try for a jew a few other nights later in the week but the days out side were long and hot on an open boat.
